I’ve moved to a chest rig expanded with an assault pack. The chest rig is a helikon tmr and it’s clipped into an Eagle Beavertail. I clipped the chest rig with dual cinch straps. This allows me to mount 2 canteen pouches and 2M60 pouches for my NV and thermal. I can carry 3 days gear in the same weight/profile as a plate carrier and hydration pack.

I don't really have a patrol rig yet, but I have a tending my garden belt. It has my Glock at 3 o'clock, dump pouch that I usually have shotshells in for squirrel hunting but usually holds my water during garden time of year at 9 o'clock, a holster for my slingshot and 5/16 steel balls for whatever menace wants to fuck around and find out over my wife's tomatoes at 5 o'clock. Nothing really bothers my Carolina reapers. And my buck 113 at 11 o'clock. This year I'll be throwing on AR mag pouches for my actual AR or my M&P 15-22, depending on what I'm hunting, doing.

glad to see someone talking about how bad tapeswitches are. another failure point, way too sensitive, takes up space. that little pack on the SMERSH belt kit is the buttpack, you're meant to wear it on the back of the belt and strap your ranger roll to the bottom of it with your goretex and gridfleece and a change of clothes or hat, mittens, etc. inside it. the idea is, if you get separated from your pack indefinitely, you still have some basic layers so you don't die of exposure.

I disagree with rocking just irons especially since you have night vision. I agree yes a recce gun doesn’t need to be a 16 with a 2-10, light, laser, and bipod. But you should want some sort of actual optic.
@luketimmer6108
@luketimmer6108 Жыл бұрын
If you have the disposable cash id agree but skipping an optic gives you lots of cash to spend on gear and ammo. However I got a 1-6 for my AK with holds on the reticle and it makes distance shooting stupid easy. But again I only got it because I had extra cash burning a hole in my pocket.

Using irons with white light is very doable. What I have been hearing is you don't need the optics in a high NV environment. Because people are splashing lasers and IR lights all over and under NODs it looks like a white light fest anyway. So why not just use white lights? In high NV environments it's different than when we were fighting Taliban. Of course, the Taliban has NODs now too. I'm not in the game, that is just what I've been hearing. I, personally, do a lot of work under white light and whatever sights I happen to have, including irons.
@ExplorinInTheWoods
@ExplorinInTheWoods Жыл бұрын
@@woodsghost9088 people are getting away from using IR illumination. You can’t get away from it completely but if it is a bunch going on then you can aim through your dot under nods, you can do it with a 1/3 co witness or higher. But white light is useful in a structure to wash out an opponents nods but it highlights you.

Is this a joke? Unless you’re living in the 70’s no one Carry’s a full size knife and definitely no one places it on the shoulder strap.. Some do band a tq to the shoulder but that is not recce shit that is door kicker shit.. And wtf is going on with that pistol? For fucks sake go to a simple old school gi drop leg.. if you’re going to a pistol everything has gone horrible wrong already.. you’re not doing a rifle to pistol seal team 6 transition in 99.9% of any combat lol.. there is a reason 95% if the service doesn’t even carry or get issued a pistol at all.. Another think idk why this pouches are sitting up so high? This is limiting range of movement especially with that stupid “cross draw” that just looks like a I messed up and bought a left handed appendix holster lol.. Look done flaming but I’m being 100% serious in all this too.. My recommendations and what I did for a similar setup.. Use a typical padded barrel belt sleeve over the belt to use typical molle attachment pouches.. maybe you did here but it looks like this is web belt only.. with that I’ll add the old school 2.25” Alice web belt is 10x better then any of the modern day belts in terms of stiffness.. Go to a drop leg universal pistol holster with a spare mag on it. Nit Gucci but it’s way more practical for this setup. My medical is on another drop leg panel on my left leg with a double mag behind it and on a rip away panel.. My setup.. 2x2 ar mag pouch with elastic band and flaps.. behind that is a 100end saw pouch. I can fit 4 30’s but run 3.. that’s 7+1 right there. Under the back portion of the 2x2 and the front portion of the saw pouch is a regular trifold dump in case I need to drop a few extra bottle of water or whatever in it on the fly.. Then I have a standard drop leg panel with 2 single mag with bungee retention in case I need to plus up to 10 mags.. on top of that is a rip away medical and under the rifle pouches is a 4.25” fixed plate tucked in tight behind the rifle mag carriers with ulti clips. Next I have a condor Nalgene (yes condor cause they make the setup I wanted with an external small admin pouch.. on the back I have a regular Alice clip field/buttpack. On the other side of that is another Nalgene.. now here is where the Nalgene over canteen comes into play.. the shape.. being rounded and me having a 29-30” waste I have limited space.. the center malice clip area of my field pack is attached to the belt properly and I added two malice clips to the outside webbing attaching it to the side of the Nalgene.. the pouches on the Nalgene hold water purification in one and fire starting in the other.. next is a 200rnd saw which only 3 columns attach to the belt and the fourth also attached to the other side of the second Nalgene.. if needed this will hold 9 30’s but mostly it is used as a large gp.. it holds my tools.. for starters I have an e tool in there and then added to that I have some odds and ends bushcraft tools. Tbh I may get a proper molle etool pouch and put it up on the h harness backer and see how it feels under a pack that way.. This has now saved me 3 columns of molle making my 30” small belt into a medium 34”+ belt.. Next is another 100rnd saw pouch.. this can plus up another 3-4 mags or as I do it’s mostly a gp pouch.. for signaling, multi tool, headlamp basic needs.. In front of that I have a simple pistol mag pouch with flap for a hand held light.. Nothing is infront of my hip bones preventing or making going prone or going prone comfortably. Worst case and the point of setups like this is you simple unsnap the rig and let it lay out to the sides so you can go prone fully.. this is also why they make split front chest rigs mind you.. Now I added to this.. I got a micro fight mk4 rig.. running it wo any side wings.. if I need to plus up in mags I can throw this on and add 3 more.. the front pouch can also take the inserts for a possible 6 more mags.. I run the double elastic inset on the outside of this for one extra pistol mag. I can if I need to throw my plate carrier over top of this.. Both my plate carrier and the chest rig run full medical danglers.. You’re over thinking the pressure pad thing as you’re using what looks like a stream-light.. their pressure pad allows use of the hard mounted toggles so if the pad malfunctions you still have regular light use.. been using this setup for almost 10 years now never had an issue with my pressure pads malfunctioning though.. The only thing I have on my shoulder is in the left shoulder and it’s a small red lends only 10lum light for admin uses.. Which I could share a picture here to go with this.. would make a lot more sense.. One last thing.. for drop leg shit.. and the people against it.. that’s high speed door kicker shit.. you got to be running and jumping pretty hard for that to be flapping around with proper setup and adjustments.. and if you’re running or doing anything to that extent in a firefight then you’ve already made many mistakes along the way before that happens.. I think I have $400 into my entire belted harness setup? It works.. with 16 mags it’s only 38 lbs with the etool setup.. Carry’s better then just my chest rig down here in the south in terms of heat and comfort even though the chest rig is just 8 lbs.. Also each layer of gear has a knife.. I got a 4.25” fixed plate on my plate carrier centered behind the kangaroo pouch.. I got a 3.5” centered on the chest rig behind the mag placard.. got a regular high speed belt setup for use with the plate carrier and kicking doors that still has a tdi knife on it.. All assessable with both hands primarily setup for left side so in a hands on environment I can properly keep control of my sidearm with my dominate hand and still have access to a space creator knife so I can access my sidearm and end the fight.. This is primarily all knives and sidearms are for is crossing a threshold getting rushed while weapon is low or high ready and having options to quickly end that attack. Having a knife thar doubles as a bushcraft tool is secondary and if needed you can place something like that in your pack rather then putting a full size knife on your kit..

Drop legs and RECCE. Yeah good luck with that shit flopping around on your legs for a week straight of walking. And not carrying a fixed blade in the field is pretty dumb. Carrying it on the shoulder is pretty dumb though, especially when it gets in the way of the backpack straps.

@@ExplosiveFetus you using the wrong drip leg shit or your not adjusting it or loading it properly.. yeah it has some issues.. but those issues come from full sprint running and climbing over walls and shit.. door kicker shit.. you’re not doing any of this in a recon patrol or any patrol element.. hell if you want to be real to those who fn know you don’t do it in cqb either.. everything is slow and steady wins the race shit.. there is no running in real combat.. it’s all slow walk methodical movements.. to include cqb.. people think you breech a door then go running in 100mph and clear a building in 60 seconds.. that’s not how it works.. it’s slow and one room at a time.. Recce is even slower.. the only issue witu recce type things is the tiny possible movements over prolonged time creating hot spots or chaffing.. Proper setup takes care of 90% of this and for the other 10% you are already carrying shammy butter or something else similar for chafe so you simply add to where you’re applying it.. My m9 with spare mag at 2.5-3 pound doesn’t flop.. it’s also not so tight it not cutting circulation to my leg.. my damn ifak on the other side w two ar mags.. I’ve not weighed it but I’m guessing 2.2 in mags.. another .5 in materials.. and it’s a Full med not a basic bleeder kit ifak so prob 1.5-2lb.. maybe 4-4.5lb rig. I can go to a steady jog and it doesn’t move a bit with proper straps and adjustments.. worn it similar setups for 4-5 days wo issue.. Lot of you need to stop basing you’re options off what some KZbinr who’s background you don’t know vs what you actually have tried and used yourself.. long as you keep a drop leg rig adjusted high and right away from the knee area it’s no issue and really allows you to plus up on what you carry.. If you want to give one downside to drop leg anything it’s that the leg fatigue from when just a few pounds is noticeable over long periods of time in adverse terrain where you are constant changing elevations up and down.. But this is a training issue.. Train as you fight

I run a LBE H harness with 8 mags two GP pouches and ifak and a butt pack for poncho. And a canteen pouch. Rifle is a 16 inch with 1x prism and a magnifier on a qd so it can go in a pouch if needed. I live in a heavily wooded area with some fields that have about 400-600 yards of line of sight

I have 1 kit to rule them all. I use a PC with or without plates. Has a removable pack . I laughed my ass off when I seen that knife on the strap. How about you hit the dirt and crawl with that. Most likely you will lose it. That red tab on the TQ I black out. No need to have that red just sticking out. If you have a TQ you should know how it's staged and it's proper use. Just my 1.5 Input.

Water, food, shelter, first aid/medications, means of defense, and a plan. Better off spending money on training. Where I live the side arm is a must for 4 legged predators. I don't like holding my left nut hostage. I have a ballistics jacket that I wear hunting, at range, on motorcycle, and chain sawing. In my area the fog really screws optics. Your more likely to be notice and leave signs out patrolling.
