I think I particularly like Lillian Boxfish because of the NYC observations. I coudl definitely see some of my mom's family traipsing through life in those times, observing enviously.

I listened to Lillian Boxfish on audio and the narrator was excellent. I haven't heard of the other book but it sounds very interesting.

That's great to hear about the narrator! The character has a very particular voice, so I could imagine not every narrator would do it well.

Excellent! Lillian Boxfish has been on my overdrive wishlist for a long time, but few people ever talk about it so I've been a bit doubtful. I haven't heard of Don't Forget, but everything with her rejecting social expectations sounds great too.

I really enjoyed Lillian Boxfish a loooong time ago (before Booktube) but others have not, I think because it's more meandering, but I enjoyed that style :)

@@MargaretPinard Oh, interesting. It's a pretty standard story structure: elderly person intersperses memories with snippets of current life. Do you think it was the fact that she's just wandering around the city that doesn't do it for some folks?
