The end of your video reminded me of an early intro video on the channel that covered the purpose and goals of the channel. Covering collection topics while improving communication skills with an eye towards honing those skills for professional reasons. It's not easy when content or social media creates a situation where it feels like the goal or purpose should shift, or is getting forced to shift. It's always hard when circumstances usher a project away from doing it for fun and working on skills for one's own reasons... and over to the arena of work. Keeping doing what you do the way you'd like to do it!

I feel you! I've been hesitant for a long time to splurge on certain titles. But I found that trying to patiently incorporate some grail titles into the collection every now and then is immensely rewarding, and worth some saving/selling sacrifices to make it happen :)

Many would (and do) take the opportunity to exploit their popularity where they can for freebies and deals. It's a display of integrity on your part to acknowledge that doing so would put you in a grey area and refraining from doing so. Ultimately I think it makes your content that much more relatable and enjoyable. Where many of us have wishlists and grail items that we work towards. Not that the content creator mentions them, winks, and gets it sent to them by a fan. I'm quite pleased to have discovered your channel. Great pickups and thank you for the video.

I dont personally have a problem with creaters who accept gifts but i would be concerned if anyone on youtube was giving out their real address. Safety is number one and i think sometimes people get a little too comfortable and trusting of people they talk to on the internet sometimes. Parasocial relationships are real and it's important to have boundaries and distance in place. I'm sure the vast majority of people on here have positive intentions but it's the few who may potentially have an alterior motive that we all have to watch out for and as a woman we have to be extra hypervigilant.

If you haven't already and have the opportunity I highly, highly recommend playing through the original Phoenix Wright trilogy before playing Layton vs Wright. It's a really nice marriage of the two genres and seeing all of the characters interact with each other is much more meaningful if you have a deeper understanding of their characters.

Hi Emily, some nice new acquisitions there! As for Octopath 1; I think for once I'm in the majority when I say absolutely play it. I've finished the story for 5 of my 8 travellers and I think its a really great game with a huge amount to do if you wish to. I bought the guidebook and it's amazing seeing the list of locations, dungeons and NPCs scattered around the game. Sure, most encounters are very brief, but there;s a lot of surprising humorous moments that crop up. The usual knock on it is the lack of interaction between the party. While that's true there is some as you progress and you get the feeling they are very fond of one another, kinda like a brother/sisterhood. It keeps you on your toes too; I'd found one of the advanced jobs and was strutting around like the king of the world when I wandered into a random forest and got my backside served to me on a plate 😄. I love it when a game puts you in your place like that. It will take some time though.

I can’t tell you how much I appreciated your transparency with the below market offers. There are other game collectors on KZbin who exploit this all the time and I cannot stand watching them anymore. For those of us who do not have access to these deals and just want an honest video from a fellow collector, it feels like betrayal when it comes out. When several famous game collectors marketed WhatNot to sell their games it became incredibly scandalous in my opinion. I hope those who made you offers understand but please don’t change your mind on this principal.

Great video, always nice when you can finally get the rare games you've been wanting for a long time. Back when I was collecting for the GC I remember randomly searching the internet for FE Path of Radiance during my lunch break a few years ago and happened to stumble upon a cheap loose copy, easily my best find =) Also congrats on the new place, best of luck setting up your game collection! After moving into my new place, setting up my game room the way I always wanted it was an amazing experience, plus it beats keeping games and merch sitting in boxes haha. I see nothing wrong with opening a PO box in the future, part of game collecting is helping each other out, and as a content creator it can be seen as a way that subscribers can send something to say thanks. Will be looking forward to the Discord, there's not too many places to meet game collectors easily outside of conventions.

Amazing pickups once again! If you’re planning in playing Octopath II, definitely start with the first game. Trying to go back to the original after all of the changes is a bit difficult, mostly the 2x battle speed, auto text, among many other combat and gameplay changes. The first definitely still holds up though! Also congrats on the holy grail, it took me ages to find a XB2 collector’s edition for a good price! Definitely my favorite collector’s edition box, the holographic design is so beautiful. :)

I finished Root Letter on switch a few years back and I really enjoyed it. I wish more visual novels had the live action pictures, and real locations like that. It made me really immersed, and actually made me really want to visit those locations next time I go to Japan.

i think it's very admirable that you're holding off on these offers you're getting and opening a PO box, to avoid any troubles. of course, if you would decide to change your mind on that matter in the future, i don't think it would compromise the sort of content you're making! it's great that you've been able to grab some of your "grails" recently, as well! i picked up an OLED switch a few months ago, and have been turning it into an "RPG machine" largely due to your videos! i think it's a good idea to see if nintendo will release an OLED variant for zelda. it definitely feels like the superior console if you're playing undocked most of the time. lastly, news on a discord server is exciting! i participate in some similar communities already, but i think it'd be wonderful to have a community that cultivates the sort of energy you put out 😃i do think it can easily become overwhelming, however, so definitely take as long as you need to figure things out!

Amazing pickups! In an age where more traditional turn based RPG's are moving to Western RPG/hack n' slash (I'm looking at you Final Fantasy...), I appreciate games than fully embrace the turn based JRPG play style. Octopath Traveler is my favorite new RPG series in a very, very long time. I loved the first game so much, I sprung for the collector's edition for Octopath 2 on the Switch. Yeah, I know, it was pushing it at around $180, but I almost always have regrets down the road when I pass on a collector's edition for an RPG game I love. Glad I did grab it last minute.

I got the white Nintendo Switch OLED and got the Zelda Skyward Sword Joy Cons for it. First game I played on it was Metroid Dread and I absolutely LOVED it and it looks amazing! I love the channel and look forward to more!

I actually just finished Octopath Traveler 2. Barely started the first but jumped straight in and couldn’t put it down. Easily one of my favorite Square Enix titles in the last decade. Would definitely recommend finishing the first before this though, as it fixes all the issues I had there.

Having finished the first game when it came out, I don't think it's needed to enjoy the second game. They seem to be almost entirely self-contained, so I wouldn't worry too much about needing to go back to play the first game before Octopath Traveler II. Whichever one you choose to play first, I hope you enjoy them! I can see you really liking them! Also, happy to see you get the XC2 collector's edition. It's a super nice collector's edition, imo. All the Xenoblade special editions are super high quality.

I haven't bought a physical copy in so long. I miss printed manuals so much. They had useful tips, artwork and sometimes even dev notes. I do understand it looks good on a shelf though. I mean they could throw in SOMETHING to make the unboxing experience more memorable. Even a reversible cover is better than nothing.

I miss them too! Many indie releases have kept manuals alive but they aren't always the same unfortunately. The Octopath Traveler II inside cover was really disappointing in this haul :(

I bought Soulsilver for the DS years ago and I still have it complete in the box including the Pokewalker. I never completed it as it was too easy. It's one of the few boxed games I own that are in immaculate condition.

The most I've spent on a video game was 200 dollars for Castlevania Legends for the Game Boy. It was complete with Manuel's and a great box. That was quite a few years ago, and now it's even more expensive. Happy collecting!

In reference to the offers you’re getting for trades and sales. Part of the enjoyment I get from collecting is the journey and the hunt to get the game. A lot of my collection I can recall how I got it because of when and where I was when I came across it. The stuff I bought on auction I an barely remember when I got it. Not that you should consider trades. Just that maybe to de-emphasize the priority to do so.

It's been a long while since a classic style JRPG has made me feel like I'm 12 again. Like you said also, I never finished the first game but this second game has me hooked. Reminds me a lot of Golden Sun 2 where the second game totally blows open the world with boat travel and hidden islands to explore. And I hear you on that rumored/leaked Tears of the Kingdom OLED Switch model. I've had an intention for awhile now to 'upgrade' to the OLED model. I'm just such a sucker for any Nintendo console themed after Zelda. 😌

Root Letter is a really cute game, the live action is a bit odd but you can switch between the two modes easily.

Octopath Traveler 2 is fantastic, beat it two nights ago. You can play it without having finished 1, they're their own stories. Glad you got a grail on your list. It's a great feeling.

Thanks! It truly is and I can't wait to create some sort of Xenoblade shrine too in my shelving set up 😄 I always hesitate playing games out of order, even if the stories aren't connected. It can sometimes be hard to go back to the 'lesser' game with fewer quality of life features. But with all the hype surrounding Octopath Traveler 2 I may have to give in & play from there 😅

Happy that you've finally got the XB2 collector's edition! It's a beaut for sure. Also, I'll say this about Octopath. If you're ever going to want to play the first one, I recommend you play it before you play 2, definitely. I think it'd be hard to lose the quality-of-life upgrades, personally.

Octopath traveler 2 is one of the few games I've played full price for. I don't have a switch so I missed the first one and I wasn't sure about it until I played the demo and less than a hour in I was in love. It's long and I'm happy about that I'm about 20 hours in and just starting all the characters second chapters

Love the library of games you've showed. :) Great video as always. I highly recommend Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe and Metroid Prime Remastered whenever you're able to get them btw. Those are remasters of two of my-all time favorite video games and I think you'd really love them.

Very nice pickups. I definitely respect and admire your integrity when it comes to trades/buys/gifts. If I had a YT or Twitch channel I would also not feel very comfortable receiving gifts from suscribers. Specially gifts, as in my opinion, if you have a channel about game collecting, simply receiving gifts from fans would basically take away all the fun of doing so. I have many stories and experiences over my years of going to physical stores, swap meets, flea markets, deals on FB Marketplace, etc, some more pleasant than others but still very valuable experiences.

Yeah I had similar thoughts regarding gifts. Accepting them would greatly compromise my intentions for the channel which has always been documenting my collecting journey. I figured it was best to address my concerns now instead of just continuing to decline all offers I've been receiving in comments & DMs as of late 😅

Thanks for another video! I can really tell how happy you are about your pickups. Octopath Traveler is a great game and I really enjoyed playing the first one. I think you should jump into the second game even tho you didn't finish the first. The second Octopath story is separate and has nothing to do with the first and it's always hard to try to jump back into a game you haven't played in a while (especially if you have a lot of games on the backlog like me). I plan to pick up the second when I have time to play it. I have never played any of the Xenoblade games but you have talked about them many times and I really want to play them, wish there were more hours in the day so I can clean up my backlog 😅 Best of luck on all the unpacking and really look forward to seeing more videos now that your moved into the new place!

I only discovered the Layton games last year. (Never had DS/3DS back in the day). I've since bought all of them and I'm going through Layton vs Wright now. I am loving that game. If you never played it, you're in for a wild and weird ride! Another game franchise I only discovered last year is Xenoblade. I've since played all the Switch games. I have the Wii-U version but haven't played it. It's been easier for me to play these really long games portably. When I'm waiting in the car line to pick up the kids from school, I'm that weird old guy playing video games! LOL.

Congrats on finally getting so many holy grails. It always feels nice when you get to add something you've been chasing for a long time. Coincidentally, I too just picked up Root Letter. I got a PAL Day one Edition off amazon for around $30. For a long time I've been interested in the lesser known and traveled prefectures of Japan, so this game really spoke to me. I think I might start it at the end of this month once I finish the massive masterpiece that is Clannad. Again congrats on your grail pick ups and your move. Emily! That Xenoblade Chronicles 2 artbook is a treat to look at, wow. Smart pick up on Zelda: Link to the Past GBA CIB... I just picked up a copy and I am still in awe of how beautiful Zelda looks and feels on a handheld! Soulsilver for DS is 150 loose, yet some people still sell this for 50-75 online... My recent game pickup was Bloodborne, a sealed PS4 collector's edition and an unsealed game of the year edition. Back then I sold my collector's edition because I did not understand that kind of game. After playing Demon's Souls and Elden Ring I knew that I would like that game too, although a little bit less as it turns out.

For the Professor Layton games, I believe all you have to do is save for the first time and then you can download the daily puzzles. For the prof layton vs phoenix wright game you have to finish the whole game. I'm 20 hours in now and I still haven't finished it (but I'm close I believe). Sorry for the bad english haha

I've had Root Letter on my wishlist for the longest time and heard many good things about it, do let me know what you think of it because I love me some murder mysteries. Congratulations on getting these grails! I really regret trading in my Heart Gold and Soul Silver back in the day and not reacquiring them sooner. A boxed Soul Silver easily goes for around $250 and it's become one of my grails. I may just have to settle for the cart at this point. I'd love to see a great big Professor Layton video from you. I've only played a few of the games but never really got into them, would be cool to see which ones you think are the best. The Collector's Edition for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was one of my favorite CEs in my collection, such a shame the CE for XC3 was surrounded by so much BS as it probably would've been up there with the 2nd. And of course, Congratulations on the new apartment! Hoping the unpacking is going as smoothly as possible and can't wait to see how you display your collection!
