Sorry if the volume of the music was disrupting, I’ll definitely keep that down on my next video.

'Onya Ryan- what a great presentation (again). For a young fella, you certainly are (to quote Tina Brooks) "Good Old Soul." Keep up the great work. Your collection will be of extreme quality the way you are heading. Cheers from Oz

Fantastic finds! As for the Contemporary line-up: Barney Kessel, Hampton Hawes, Leroy "The Walker' Vinnegar, Shelly Manne -- that's as a stellar a big-name line-up as you'll find on any session in history! Individually, they've played with everybody, from Art Pepper to Bill Evans -- and put out great records under their own names, too. Have you checked out any of the titles in the Contemporary "Poll Winners" series, with the winners of Downbeat polls (1957-60) jamming together? It's the same line-up (sans Rollins) with Ray Brown instead of Vinnegar. and one title with Cannonball Adderley and Wes Montgomery (though it's not the best of the batch). Anyway, thanks for sharing your treasures...

Thanks Ryan, great finds! (That Tina Brooks is brilliant) You've got so much knowledge about jazz, it's great how you share your music journey with us, Authentic and genuine. Agree that all records should be stored outside the jacket in transit (common sense)! I aspire to have your knowledge mate. Thanks

Great pickups as always Ryan! I am so jealous you have found that Johnny C! Super tough to find that one! Big congrats! And man Roots! That one is not expensive but also super hard to find! Funny I just found an OG copy of roots last month after looking for years. The vinyl is VG+ on that but the jacket is all taped up with duct tape haha but hey beggars, right? Man lots of heavy hitters in this pile! So happy your collection is growing and your taste in music is perfection! Thanks for the video.

Working for corrections while also buying and selling but I’ve surely slowed down, luckily my parents don’t charge me rent yet so that had been a huge factor as well.

Man, I couldn’t even imagine what I’d do in that moment. 500 is a lot but certainly not for that record, fingers crossed something comes along to fill its place in your collection!

@@amanandhismusic haunts me to this day. I think my reasoning was that I would have kept it rather than sell it and I wasn’t really in a place to buy $500 records. Guy had about 20 rare blue note records including ‘Freddie Redd - shades of redd.

Are you interested in fusion jazz at all ?
@amanandhismusic
@amanandhismusic Жыл бұрын
To some extent but I’d definitely like to look into it a little more! Do you have any recommendations for specific artists or songs?
@BrianRoberson-k7g
@BrianRoberson-k7g Жыл бұрын
@@amanandhismusic You seem to lean towards post-bop but if you want to check out some fusion I would recommend " Bitches Brew" by Miles Davis. There were four off-shoots from Bitches Brew, Weather Report, The Headhunters, Mahavishnu Orchestra, and Return to Forever. I've never heard The Headhunters, but my favorite Weather Report album is "I Sing The Body Electric", and Mahavisnu Orchestra's "Birds Of Fire", and Return to Forever's eponymous first album are both very good.
@amanandhismusic

Ohhh yeah I listen to many of those groups. Herbie, Miles and Chick are really masterminds. Bitches Brew was one of the first records I got but I still need to upgrade my copy to an original soon!

Tina Brooks! I have a Mosaic set of him, "The Complete Blue Note Recordings of the Tina Brooks Quintets." You made a killer find. Also, congratulations on the Sonny Rollins LP, I have the OJC reissue as well, and it is well recorded. If you haven't heard it, I think you'll like "I'm an Old Cowhand." All those names you ran through showing these albums, such incredible stuff. Also enjoy the stories accompanying each record. Have fun with them all.
@amanandhismusic
@amanandhismusic Жыл бұрын
Thanks Charles! I love I’m an Old Cowhand, one of my favorite songs written by the great Johnny Mercer. The jazz greats such as Rollins and Coltrane have always done so good with his songs and implement their own styles into the songs but still keep that Johnny Mercer lyrical power. You can hear the words as they play!

Appreciate the feedback. I definitely realized that after I recorded the video. Definitely won’t play vocal music in the next videos and I’ll play more of a toned down album so it doesn’t intrude on the commentary.
