Hi, how are you doing? Nice to see you. I was so confused by the label "gauze" it really wasn't in anyway gauze-like to my mind! I thought it must soften up with a wash, but no 😆. I've had compliments on the dress already so its definitely worked out well. 🙋‍♀️

Catherine, for your drawing check out The Curated Curvy, I believe it’s called the Jamison skirt. A whole other way of doing that little ruffle thing on your skirt. Always inspired!

Yes it is a bit fabric hungry! But I did made it pretty long... the fully wrap dress will be SUPER fabric hungry 😲

I love your new blue fabric and i've looked at these sooo many times online - but obv dont appreciate the drape that way! I also have made the D Davies dress twice - love that pattern so much! However my suggestions would be to take a look at the Elbe Textiles Somerfield Coat -but made long (pattern tells how) - good layering piece and two options with regard to pockets or not, also take a good look at the sleeves - good couple of options there i think! And yes i immediately i thought Tina Givens like you said! Otherwise just stick with a good shirt dress overlay. Anyway looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Hiya, how are you going? I hadn't noticed the Sommerfield Coat before so thank you for pointing that out. I like Elbe Textiles Patterns. Yes the Martha dress is definitely high up on the favorites list for the blue checked silk. Thanks for your input! 🙋‍♀️

Hello, first time here! May I recommend to you a book called Pattern Fitting with Confidence by Nancy Zeiman. She has you base size to make with a measurement between upper arm creases (which is a bit higher than upper bust). She gives you a size chart based on this. This way shoulders etc fit your torso, and you increase bust size based on your bra cup size by making larger darts. Instead of making a sz 22 based on bust size I am now making sz 18! The book walks you thru adjusting patterns to fit your measurements, VERY easy to understand.
