Ooooo! I loved Born a Crime and, although scary, I loved Code Dependant! Look at us agreeing on books!

Look at that!! Both fantastic books though, they deserve a lot of love 🧡

I was in a deep reading slump myself during May and June. I finished 0 in May and 2 in June. I've pulled out of mine and I'm glad you pulled out of yours. The only one I've read on your June list is "Clear" which I loved. (It was a me book!) Thank you!

Glad you’re out of your slump matey. I can see why a lot of people like Clear, just not enough drama for me 😂

I listened to Born a Crime when away for work and sat in a hotel laughing. His mam is a legend.

Yes!! I would love to have a drink with his mum, she is my kind of woman 😂

So glad you liked Born a Crime! It was such a good read. It has been a while since I read it so it was really nice to hear you talk about it 😊

Yeah, definitely one of those I’ve been meaning to get to for a long time and glad I finally did!

I'm glad you enjoyed Nemesis Games. It's my favorite of all 9.

It was brilliant! Definitely one of my favourites too 😄

I didn’t read any of the books you mentioned but I agree with you wholeheartedly from everything I’ve heard or read about them. At the top of my list is Trevor Noah. ❤
@GemofBooksАй бұрын
You should definitely try the Trevor Noah Glenda, I think you’d love it!!

Code Dependant I think was my fave from the list although How To Say Babylon & Intervals & Thunderclap are a closely following. Pleased you “made me” buy Blessings and and I am intrigued to get to it. P.s Dave is everything 😝💛
@GemofBooksАй бұрын
I think Intervals is still my favourite from this years list (though I still have several to read, including Babylon 😳) I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Blessings 🤩

I love Trevor Noah’s book as well. I enjoyed Ethan Frome and Burial Rites more than you did. And I landed in the same spot as you with The House with the Golden Door.

A full pick n mix of agreements & disagreements 😂

Clear is on my September TBR. What are the elements of a Gemma book? What’s Gemma catnip? Video idea… ?
@GemofBooksАй бұрын
I think just more plot and possibly something devastating happening to a main character 😆

I definitely think house with the golden door didn’t live up to the wolf den but I still gave it five stars which is me being soft..
@GemofBooksАй бұрын
You are definitely more generous with your 5 stars than me - still a great book though!

🫂.of the 6 non-fic books i read for the booktube prize i ranked doppelganger 4th and for many of the reasons you mentioned. Olivia's Catastrophe is a fan of Monstress, I tried it because of her... but I DNF'd it because I'm a wimp 🤣
@GemofBooksАй бұрын
Yes - doppleganger deserves to be closer to the bottom of the pack given how amazing some of the others were! Monstress is quite scary 😂😂
