That was a wonderful passage you read from Virginia Woolf. It just transports you. I hope you enjoy all your June reads - so much to discover.

And there are passages like that all throughout the book! Thank you for your kind wishes 😁

"I'm very slowly swinging over to k liking nonfiction more than fiction." Good words to hear haha. Haven't read Comquering Family. Silmarillion is fun. My friend loves Dune but I've never tried. Glad to have you joining in on the philosophy Discord!

Thank you, Justin. I’m quite excited to be part of that discord. This year was the first time that I’ve read history and biography, and now I can’t wait to dive deeper into these genres!

Really excited to see you in the Discord. I tried leaving a comment on one of your videos last week, but KZbin swiped it I guess. Just wanted to let you know that we're enjoying the content and we're looking forward to your contributions about the Symposium!

June seems to be a good time to start a big summer reading project like Dune. I just started Don Quixote, trying to get over my big book problems. You should definitely read Runaway Horses, but if you like that and really want to learn more about Mishima I'd have to recommend Confessions of a Mask as the most important work of fiction he wrote which reveals so much of his character; it's almost a sort of psychological portrait of himself. For non-fiction, which you enjoy so much, his book Sun and Steel is also a brilliant examination of his philosophy; no analysis of his literature would be complete without it, I think.

Thank you for the tips! I will probably try to read the tetralogy first, and then the other two books you just mentioned. I’ll be interested to hear about your experience with Don Quixote. You have the penguin classics edition, right?

That “more direct relevance to the real world” may be illusory. 😂 That Rouse was my first Plato - probably a much earlier printing of the exact edition. Good stuff!

Yes, I’m enjoying the Rouse translation a lot! You don’t think non-fiction has more relevance than fiction? I would interested in hearing your thoughts.
