I also have been 'crushing on the Berlin Jacket" :) Yours looks amazing! I have been waiting 2 years to cut into some fabric I have , afraid to ruin it, but you have inspired me ! Re the black tiered dress, the weight of the fabric, for such a light weight material, could drag the arm-cye down, the waist, down, and the length down... I have had trouble with short bamboo Tee shirts, dragging down into larger tops ! Also thanks for the comment about the neckline, because I have been searching the sewing youtubes for people using this kind of fabric and how to finish the neck... great info :)

I love the pink andred fabric, back in the day you'd never see these 2 colours together. These days it's my favourite. My favourite garment of your makes is the top you're wearing. I love Tessuti fabrics. I'm off to Melbourne in July and planning on a big spend in Tessuti.

Great to have you back with a makes vlog, love it. All your makes are gorgeous particularly the top you are wearing and the aubergine coat, they’re absolutely fabulous. I love the coat colour, one of my favs. They’re gone onto the list!🤷🏼‍♀️😅 My 33 year old Pfaff has a built in walking foot and I would never drop the feed dogs for regular sewing. I would drop the feed dogs only for free machine embroidery in my experience.

Beautiful garments, Ruan! I hate gathering any type of fabric, most especially viscose and viscose blends. 😂 I usually turn them in to pleats. You can still add swim elastic or clear elastic to your maxi waistband, just cut it the length of the waistline + overlap length and don’t stretch when sewing. That should help stabilize the waist. I prefer to use the cotton swim elastic myself. 💗 Happy sewing!

Hi Ruan I love all your makes especially the top you are wearing 🥰. Definitely keep the feed dogs up when using your walking foot as you need them to work with the foot to bring the fabric through evenly… hope that helps.. take care xx

I never put the feed dogs down when using my walking foot. The foot and the feed dogs work together to pull the fabric through evenly. Your jacket is a stunning colour and looks great on you.

Your Hazelwood is gorgeous! Those colors are so beautiful on you, and you did a wonderful job. Sometimes the spontaneous efforts prove to be “meant to be” garments. I actually love a faced hem, particularly anywhere there is a pronounced flair or taper, because the hem is absolutely precise when turned up. Big fan, here. Big, BIG fan! 😍😍😍

❤ the coat! Very clever seams. I think the idea of the walking foot is it works with the feed digs to make sure the top and bottom fabrics are fed through together. Boiled wool is so stable it doesn't need the walking foot.
