I live in Latrobe... from my understanding, it closed Dec 27, 2020 because Walmart owns the land and they raised the rent. Too expensive to keep up. It's so cool to see you here! 🙂

I've lived in and around Latrobe my whole life and before Sheetz it was Gio's restaurant and bar and before that it was Halula's bar and restaurant which dates back to the 1950's I believe, or even longer. Never was a ice cream stand there....there was one down the road though, close to there, probably what you were thinking of....btw, there are so many good pizza places in and around Latrobe-Greensburg area....you have to try Falbo's, Hotel Loyal, Joio's, Parkwood, just to name a few....

There is one in Houston, TX just like this still alive and kicking. I am shocked to see how long it has lived on as it dates back many decades AND is hidden under a freeway!! I hope it never closes!

There was one not far from me with the old hut style roof. There Is another one in the same area but it is a smaller take out only Pizza Hut /Wing street . I have a lot of great memories eating @ Pizza Hut.

There's only one of these left in my area but it isn't as good as it was when I was a child. The buffet is gone. The other pizza hut locations are takeout only.

Hi! You mention seeing the vintage label scar on Greensburg's old restaurant, the Pizza Hut where I live in Irwin, which is still open and busy, they have their newer logo on both sides of the building, and if you look closely on the side of the building that faces McDonalds Big Mac Museum, you can see, almost clearly, the label scar of the vintage logo from the 80s and 90s! It's so cool! I like their stuffed crust pizza! Just had it last week! Stay awesome guys!

I live in Latrobe. This used to be a very thriving Pizza Hut. The person who managed this facility retired a few years ago and it went downhill quickly from there. They had trouble attracting employees and the good ones quit. There are plenty of places around that sell pizza but this was one of the nationally advertised brand. I’m fairly sure that this property does not belong to Walmart, this Pizza Hut was here 40 years ago long before Lowe’s and Walmart and other people moved into the area. There would be no reason for Walmart or Lowe’s to own that property on the corner, I believe they’re closed because business was terrible.

The Sheetz was actually a place called Geos. They served Italian food. Before it was a Geos it was called Halulas, also an Italian place. I've lived here 57 years. It was Halulas when I was growing up. The Pizza Hut probably closed because their service was horrible. We've gotten more than one pizza for free because it took an hour to deliver when we live less than 5 minutes away. People just quit ordering and going there.

Wally there is an abandoned Pizza Hut here in Elgin, IL on McLean Blvd. near Big Timber Rd. It closed in October 2019 and is still sitting abandoned.

I enjoy these old retro style Pizza Huts. I think if they fix, clean them up and restored the original look some locations might do better. Market these locations as vintage and bring back that retro feeling. There is one in Ohio and it still has that retro feel. Although it is partially updated but is well maintained. It even has plants in that corner window that hang and it was doing good last time I was in that area.

One of Pizza Hut's largest franchisees declared bankruptcy a few months ago, and started closing every one of their locations. The one in my town (Vinton, IA) closed in September, it was the only one in the entire county. It's possible this location was owned by the same franchisee, because the Pizza Hut here closed just as suddenly and unexpectedly.

Pizza huts all over are closing down. If they are not pulling enough money to pull a profit, it gets shut down. My son was working at a phillipsburg, nj pizza hut and his store was shut down. Also mt pocono, pa , one in east stroudsburg, pa , one in stroudsburg, pa location. Also new owner .

Pizza Hut announced last Summer that they were closing at least half of their indoor dining restaurants, because they’re getting very little in-dining traffic, even before the pandemic, the in-dining locations were hurting. There’s a beautiful one near me in Noblesville, Indiana (Indianapolis area), that I hope stays open. That building definitely looks like it’s seen better days, much like the Penguins Defense. 😞

One recent time we were traveling we came upon a free standing location like this. We were one of the only families there. There was a buffet, but the pizza looked old and stale so we ordered fresh pizza for the table. It was ok, but I had a hard time seeing how the store was making any money. No wonder why they moved to retail strips.

It's sad to see another dine-in Pizza Hut close. But, speaking of dine-in Pizza Huts, one actually opened up in downtown Kankakee sometime around late 2019 to early 2020! The only issue is the shoebox design. But at least there's another dine-in Pizza Hut! I thought they wouldn't include that! Fun Fact: It used to be a Donut King, and, before that, a Dunkin' Donuts!

Nice wally world has to dominate everything or so they think, disgusting. Pizza Hut's were awesome back in the 1980's, their crust was thick and my brother and I could only eat about 3 or 4 pieces each. They should have never changed the way they made those. We used to play the sit down Pac Man game too before our pizza would show up at our table.

While it's sad to see these locations bite the dust, sadly that is what is most cost efficient for them. There is one classic style hut in Houston, TX that is takeout only. Doesn't even have the dining room, just a lobby. Also doubles as the regional training center.
