Thank you for making this video series! I'm debating whether or not to take a class on Censorship, Regulation and Audiences over a practical module

Thank you so much for this!!! It´s been really helpful! Would you say that "reception theory "is the same as the "new audience reception theory" and "active audience theory"? Also, do you know of any method, different from the empiric one, to make this analysis? Thanks a lot!
@grabbitt8 жыл бұрын
I've not heard of it being called new audience reception theory but it does come under the umbrella of active and passive audience.

Thx! It helps me a lot in my assignment. Very clear explanation :) I have another question here, what are the strengths and weakness of this Reception Theory? Hope you can help me to solve this :)

nice. needed this for a assignment. 1 question though. what grand theory would receptio theory come under? Limited effects?
@grabbitt6 жыл бұрын
not sure to be honest. I've never looked at grand theories before. Possibly learning theory if that makes sense.

Is there any theory that supposes TV does influence our language a whole lot ? For example too much cursing on TV will cause TV viewers to curse? (Despite cultural values and environment) thanks a bunch!
@grabbitt9 жыл бұрын
i would argue that TV does have this effect. (cultivation theory) Not sure there are any particular studies to do with language but I know that psychologists have looked at studies of group formations that show language develops within groups of people. if we combine this with cultivation theory i think you make a valid point. of course it's not the case that everyone will be effected in the same way (reception theory/active audience)
