Hey just wanna say thank you for this video Last week my car AC crapped out on me. Scheduled a service appointment for 2 weeks from now. Looked online at this video and went out and bought my own refrigerant can (similar to In this video). Watched your instructions, and followed can instructions. Now my car is cool. Worked like a charm. Canceled the appointment. Saved me a lot of money and sweat from driving in a hot car with a 2 year old. Thanks sir!!!!

I agree, some mechanics are 100% ripping people off and taking advantage of people. The reason why some prices are super high though are because you’re laying for their knowledge, which often includes years of experiences, schooling (sometimes) and the multiple ase tests (they cost around 50 dollars each and there are 19 of them.) Most shops also do by the hour, and offer the necessary parts or fluids needed for the specific vehicle. They need to keep their shops running and their employees paid. 130 is extremely ridiculous though, compared to the 25 bucks and diy aspect of it all.!

Making it work does not mean fixing it buddy !! Without knowing the right amount of frigid and oil amount to put in the system you're risking bigger problem in the future like destroying the compressor , also you have to look for extra air and moisture in the system evaporator condenser and even expansion valve !! Not to mention infecting the system I would do what only if I was selling the car other than that if you're keeping the car go find an affordable mechanic and have them do right and professional way.

THIS is what I needed, thank you SO much! Great details - I'm not too swift with cars, and I need specifics, this was perfect! Thank you!!! Edit - just bought AC Pro and followed your instructions - got AC flowing in my car!! WOO HOO! And, I was so glad that you mentioned you could hear your compressor engaging as I was completely out and my wheel was not spinning as in the instructions on the bottle. I started to get a bit nervous - so I did what you did, just started to squeeze and sure enough, I heard my AC engage and the wheel started to spin! Filled her up, emptied the can (dial read 29, so I actually probably could use another can). I'll wait a few months before checking with another can. For not, I have AC in my 4runner again - just in time, as today its in the 80's!! Thank you!!

So, I went today and bought a can, and am gearing up confidence to go out and do this, but I NEVER say anyone hold the can "upside down"! You need need to fill the system while holding the can upright not upside down. Otherwise you risk damaging the compressor because when you flip the can upside down you are pumping the refrigerant in liquid form instead of gas. Both ways work but if you fill it in liquid form you have a high chance of breaking the compressor. In gas form you have no chance of damaging the compressor.

21 year old vehicle. You must have a very small leak from o- rings loosing their elasticity . More typically the AC may need recharging after ten years or so to keep things up to snuff. Keep that hose that came with the refrigerant. You can use it on another can that will max out on the coolant. Keep the hose inside the house and not the garage.

Can use it more than just on another can, multiple I imagine

@@dawhoda1 You can use it on as many spare cans as needed. Store it properly so the rubber won't dry out like inside your home and not a garage!

The real answer to the fight in the comments is: ANY PRODUCT IS GOOD IF YOU USE IT RIGHT! I got 2006 Nissan Quest with A/C barely blowing cool. I work on my cars myself and love doing things right. However, this time I don't have money, but really need to fix A/C, even temporarily. I got a similar kit from Walmart and CAREFULLY READ THE INSTRUCTIONS (which almost nobody does). I held the can upright and tilted to 3 o'clock position per the instructions, not upside down like the author did. The pressure didn't wanna go up and stayed at about 28 psi. The instruction says: 'For some vehicles with expansion valves the filling level cannot properly defined by using the pressure gauge at the low side, it always stays at 25-30 psi.' So I didn't try to charge it to death, but instead went inside and checked the vent air temperature. It was cold as hell! So I'm good now until I get money to fix the system properly. Best $20 spent ever!

One of the few who realizes the a/c isn't fixed, just charged. "So I'm good now until I get money to fix the system properly."

Glad I watched this. I have a 17 yo Chevy Tracker and need to refill the Freon. I was afraid I could only get it done at a repair shop.

Thanks for the tutorial! I was wondering how to check my ac system I'll be picking up a guage to check the psi. My daughter had her ac system checked by the dealer and they just added refrigerate to her system and it was expensive!!! They said it was common to add the coolant but she should be good for another 9 years!

Judy --- It is NOT COMMON to have to ever add to any A/C System. R134a is about $6.00 a lb. At a Dealer they probably charged you $20.00 or more a lb. On a Home A/C System they charge $40.00 or more a lb. Still only costs $6.00 lb to buy it,if you know where to go. ALL DEALERS --- tell you non-sense. Why Are You At A Dealer,no reason to ever go to one. You know that the Dealer lied to you If they had to add Refrigerant there was a reason,IT LEAKED,so wouldn't it leak again long before 9 years. You were not in the Service Bay talking to a Tech,do so in the future.

My 2002 Mustang has never been recharged and it'll still freeze you out. My 2014 Xterra doesn't get as cold - maybe because more space has to be cooled? Anyway, I had an 87 Dodge Daytona that had to be recharged every couple of years.

Comments about not charging with the can upside down, thereby injecting liquid into the system, are valid. This has always been standard automotive A/C advice. I believe he is shaking the can because it has "Sealer" included. Note that sealer often does not work, and can damage the system requiring expensive repairs. I never use it.

Thats what I thought too. If you have to keep shaking the can there is something in there other than refrigerant and right, NEVER use sealer/stopleak
