I watched about 6 videos on this problem when I happened to find yours's. BEST one yet! That's exactly what I did today. No questions asked. When I went to find a new one to replace it, it had $50s off and the new one had a 4 year warranty on the battery. I'm guessing this was a frequent problem. I'm glad they addressed the problem as it is a powerful little blower

I'm def not educated in the multimeter field so for me to troubleshoot the outcome is grim. I was hoping it would be a common sense fixer upper, but by the end of making the video my brain reminded me I thankfully purchased the greenworks item at Costco which has a fantastic return policy. They swapped the blower out no questions and the new one, the batteries and the chargers are still chugging along. Thank you for your kind words! Have a super day! 💖💖💖

I have found solution just take one of good batteries, can be Milwaukee or different one and connect minus minus plus to plus with any wires and wait like 45 seconds to 1 minute and you will be ready to recharge.

I saw a video showing how to do that, but when I saw this video it was a no brainer. Plus the Costco replacement blower was cheaper and had a 4 year warranty on the battery.

Warning - Spoiler Alert I had to "like" this, due to the plot twist. I lauged, I cried, and then ultimately the suspense had me on the edge of my seat! I had assumed you'd do the usual KZbin thing and just watch, rinse, and then repeat what you'd seen. So when instead it turned out that the solution was seemingly useless, the humor all but made me forget I still had a broken battery to deal with. If Green work's was a better company they could add a 82 trickle charger and better yet use a side plug in with a meter so you could see what was going on and they could use a sensor that would open the circuit, if it sensed heat or radical voltage ? Just like many Lithium Ion batteries have built in sensors which were around 15 years ago!

Repairing these batteries is often as simple as jump starting them by supplying 80volts dc to the hot and negative terminals to raise the voltage until the charger decides it is a good battery. The smart chargers decide they are no good because they were allowed to sit too long or get to too low of a voltage. Having a good battery helps to accomplish this. You can find people with better explanations on youtube of jumpstarting lithium batteries. Be cautious of these 80volts because it is getting high enough to be dangerous under certain circumstances.

I agree. I'm learning :/ I know how to somewhat use my volt meter, but not enough to save lives with it. I did see some of the other greenworks battery jumpstart vids, but like you mentioned to be extremely cautious. Thanks for the input!!!!! 🤖💯⚠😀👍

@@OfficialHeather I suspect the blower you have has no low voltage shutdown. By the time the tool stops running the charger will no longer charge them due to low voltage. There have been a lot of problems with these chargers, im buying the cells for a small teardrop camper I built and ive seen a lot of them pop up when people get frusterated and sell them broken. I would just charge them periodically even if the tool is functing fine. My favorite multimeter functions are dc/ac volts and continuity to test if a wire or connection is broken.

How do you apply just 80v?

@@sethclark9780 you need an 80v source, another similar battery is the simplest way. You would just supply negative to negative and positive to positive just like jump starting a car battery. Dont leave it too long especially with a powerful source. Just long enough to boost it below the chargers minimum threshold.

It's not the battery (per many comments) It's the charger. I have TWO chargers that went bad.

it's actually when you don't fully seat the battery, it ruins the battery

don't empty your battery, charger won't charge when battery below certain voltage. watch vid from Anthony Heath, he use the full battery to jump the dead one to bring up the voltage for charging.

Costco will take it back even if you don't have a box. If you have the card you charged it on or the receipt they will take it back. :)
