Danke Pau für diese fantastische Sinfonie von dem viel zu früh verstorbenen Komponisten! ❤

Wonderful symphony and recording. Svеnska Kammarorkestern, a Swedish Chamber Orchestra, does a justice to their musical hero. 😘 Although he was a contemporary of Mozart, Larghetto lets you hear his brilliant eyes to the Romantic.

Wow! A beautiful Sinfonia by another genius we never had. A prodigy, gave Sweden a rival to Haydn ( I can hear why Kraus was admired by Haydn and Gluck ) and Vienna . Neglected composers like Kraus deserves more listening time ❤️it .

Kraus is certainly well worth investigating - Haydn described him as ‘…the first genius I ever met’ after Kraus came to visit him at Eszterhaza in 1783, and later lamented his early death in the same sentence when talking about Mozart’s similar early death. Many other ‘neglected composers’ however are not in the same category, and are better left in obscurity.

As i am looking on the beautiful painting, thinking about the heartbreaking end that Pope Pius VI had to face, he literally lived and faced one of the most evil times in modern history.

Œuvre élégante qui n'est pas sans faire penser à un certain W A Mozart. Merci

Mozart was a German. Composer. Salzburg and Austria were German countries.

Kraus as part of a four year tour of musical Europe whilst in Vienna in 1783 took the trip out to Eszterhaza to visit Haydn, he presented to him and performed the incredible (revised) c minor symphony (VB 142). Whilst it is clear he knew some of Mozart’s operatic music, it remains odd that he missed taking the opportunity to meet Mozart whilst in Vienna, but did trek out all the way to Hungary to seek out Haydn; that said, in a reversal of fortunes compared to today, it did in fact reflect the comparative status of Mozart and Haydn at the time. Musically, Kraus is better described as a German-Swedish Mozart *and* Haydn, rather than just one of the pair if you want to make the link; personally, I think him a very individual voice that shouldn’t be compared to anyone, and when Haydn did meet him, he described him as ‘…the first genius I ever met’.
