Gratifying for the soul - Missa pastoralis in D is very close to Brixi's Christmas Mass. Jan Lohelius Oehlschlägel compositions were popular in their time and spread in many Czech choirs. His work is on the border between baroque and classicism. The revival of interest in the composer's work was mainly due to the church choir at the church of St. James the Greater in Prague. I love the influence of Czech folk music tunes ( koledy) in this brilliant rendition. Love the painting though the given title may be a bit confusing but the child in the right lower corner fascinates me with its contribution to the overall painting scenario.
