Long tooth blade set $85 , you have to rotate them on the head as they wear. $450 for a replacement head since red max parts are next to possible to get as the heads wear out and the blade don't hold contact anymore $700 for a complete unit. Kawasaki makes one for half the price, I think they are trying to support the whole company off this one machine.

A horizontal and vertical cut in soil with a clean finished edge, you need a little moldboard plow! (I'm talking VERY small, normal is 14-18" wide, I'm thinking about 2-3") It will even apply pressure to the new line with the landside and firm it up. Powering and aligning it properly would be a challenge, though. Not very practical, simply an idea. :)

+rjravaz Actually, my wife LOVES ours - it's WAY faster (than the "fishing line" type), and it's WAY less maintenance. No more "re-twining" - just start it, trim, and it lasts as long as fuel is supplied. My wife HATED my spending $400 on this, but LOVED it - after only 5 minutes of using it.

john pikula golf course bunkers get alot of foot traffic, and are mowed/trimmed around at least weekly. nearly impossible to keep the edge nice on bunker all season long. we edge out bunkers and flower beds every year where i work. we have a manual edger and this would be a great replacement for it.

REAL landscapers don't care about pebbles/sand to the face (teasing); also that took a pretty long time to get a not-so-neat edge (irregular contour). I haven't worked on golfcourses, so I couldn't say if it's more relevent for that type of work.
