Gerald Swain Apparently “being watched” is the closest you’ve ever aspired to the real thing prior to being incarcerated and forever thereafter renowned by your former neighbors as “That Neighborhood Pervert.” “Woof woof” barked the other neighborhood dog-the four legged one-who was instrumental in leading to your arrest, subsequent incarceration and lifetime “enrollment” on the Sex Offender Registry due to your repeat offender (and offensive) status.

My dear “fluffyfour,” It is indeed unfortunate that such an august and highly respected program such as Masterpiece Theater which remains-even this many decades later-one of the most highly acclaimed programs ever presented somehow managed to escape your discerning taste and adroit intellectual prowess. How could a sane man (and supposedly intelligent physician) confess his extramarital affair with another woman to his wife on the phone, without being sure if the wife knows for sure that he IS committing adultery? And if the wife had a thread of love for the husband, she'd not immediately jump into bed with a younger man. This is too absurd for words! And the Brits had the nerve to look down on Hollywood movies!!!
@stevenholton4384 жыл бұрын
Wrong... you've failed to consider the variety of emotive response!
@patagualianmostly74372 жыл бұрын
Sorry, Ben Wang...He knew 100% he'd been caught out. BUT...Not by the wife. What bit did you not get? Too subtle for you? You are missing the point entirely: This is a dram-comedy.... Not meant to be a 100% serious observation. By now...in Hollywood...several car chases would have ensued... at least one shoot-out... and the S.W.A.T. team would have been on the move many times....all lights and horns a-blaring.... The C.S.I. Squad cracking the case with a toothpick in the lab.... (Not to mention an explosion or two).....Yawn....Zzzzzzzz If you can't see the "subtle" differences..... I would suggest you stick with Hollywood. You seem comfortable there.
@LadyBug19673 ай бұрын
Ben I agree her response was really unrealistic. She doesn't seem to have ever loved her husband. It was a marriage of convenience and she said she worked really hard to get that as well as her career . I think they both fit in the same part of her brain-- as a goal to be achieved by control and hard work. Then to be told that you no longer r in control & your hard work has resulted in an unfaithful husband was too much for her control freak brain to take. Having said all that, I still found her reaction unrealistic.

I think that neither Anna nor Springer knew what they wanted, They both behaved immaturely and irresponsibly. The best character in the series is Springer's Dad. Also, Anna's husband, despite his adultrous affair, is still an ok guy, a human who erred but wanted to redeem himself. Anna actually does not deserve him. In fact, I find her and Springer quite annoying and I stopped watching this half way through the second part.
@patagualianmostly74372 жыл бұрын
Then, Vesna....that is your loss. Adultery is never attractive. For ANY of the participants. It always ends in pain and sorrow. But.... all adults...Educated, immature, irresponsible, uneducated, or otherwise.... indulge in it. On a regular basis. It's what people do. But it is better than making war on other countries....is it not?

@leavingitblank93632 жыл бұрын
@@patagualianmostly7437 If it's the background music, I think what you're referring to is the slide guitar. It's too bad you associate that so strongly with "American" (U.S. only?) music. It's especially ironic considering this work. Not only was the series written and produced entirely by British entities, but the two musical directors are both English; one was a member of Dire Straits (which is probably where he picked up the sound -- Mark Knopfler is a very distinctive slide player.) It's moody, not American.
