The original was Percy Sledge in 1966 (Michael Bolton did a great cover in 1991). HF knocked it out of the park.

I love how Home Free knows who should take the lead and then let them shine. The harmonies and percussion in the background makes this perfect. One of their last quareenteen videos.

Austin did a fabulous job of this classic song. Loved Percy Sledge's version, but this was taken to another level. I think it is also better than Michael Bolton's version. And remember this was done during quarantine, so the guys weren't even together. The backing harmonies are great, along with Tim's bass. And Adam's vocal percussion is outstanding. This is why these guys are my favorite a cappella group.

This was done during quarantine. Austin was the only one in the studio. All the others recorded from their individual homes. Home Free NEVER disappoints!

The original person who sang this song was Percy Sledge. Austin the main singer had his beautiful girlfriend Amberly in the studio while he was singing this. Enjoyed watching your reaction.

Home Free has been such a great gift to all of us--especially their extra efforts in providing us with excellent music/videos throughout quarantine and the difficult days of isolation we've all dealt with these past couple of years. Austin Brown mentioned in an interview that as a 5 or 6 year old he'd sometimes traveled and occasionally sang with his father's gospel quartet in Georgia. He spend years in college (on a full music scholarship) trying to nullify his Georgia accent - when he joined Home Free they told him to stop trying. He can still quell it to a degree but if you watch the video "What's It To You" or "Earn It" his Georgia accent is still pronounced if he isn't deliberately nullifying it.

Austin (lead) and Adam (beatboxer) killed it. It’s so good and Austin was perfect for this. It’s a great cover. Loved the tv’s too. They did this during Covid so that’s why Austin was the only one in the studio. Good reaction Recky. 😀😍

Adam Rupp has won two world championships in beatboxing. There is no percussion or instruments in any Home Free music - it's all done vocally. If you haven't seen it already, there is a video of Adam Rupp beatboxing live at a concert. He also plays (invisible) harmonica on the Home Free video "Workin' for a Living" and alll the members of Home Free beatbox on the video "9-5 Beatbox Breakdown).

This song has been around since Michal Bolton was a kid. Percy Sledge did the origional in the late 50's or 60's.

Check out Home Free Drum Solo to get a good idea of what Adam can do. They've done 3 or 4 of those since 2015. In the original video (the best IMO) Adam is wearing the red plaid shirt. My second favorite is the latest one, titled Adam Rupp Beatbox Drum Solo (New Version) Home Free 11-2-21. And of course their's his nomonica/harmonica in Man of Constant Sorrow and several more songs.

The great Percy Sledge recorded this first. The style of this song is Doo-wop. Percy Sledge recorded this in the 50's or the early 60's. Home Free killed his!!! Percy Sledge would be proud.

@@Reckyj People have a tendency to paste labels on bands -- this one's metal, that one's R&B, and the other is country -- and then they always expect the group to perform the same genre. Home Free DID begin as a country vocal band, but that's never stopped them from wandering off into other genres and covering non-country hits. "When a Man Loves a Woman" was the signature song of Southern Soul ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_soul ) artist Percy Sledge.
