@@jlelliotton I think when you put out music this late in the year and it misses out for this year, I feel it gets overlooked for the next year because so much more content by other artists comes out earlier in the year. Amazing Grace is an example.

Mitch is a once in a generation talent. Even opera singers are saying they've never heard anyone like him. They all did an incredible job on this song and it's my favorite from them by far. Definitely deserves a Grammy.

its from the Disney animated movie Quest for Camelot. Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli (and then Celine and Josh Groban) performed the song for the movie soundtrack, and for their individual albums. It was never a Christmas song. but people listen to it as a Christmas song.

"The Prayer" was written for 1998 Warner Bros. animated musical film Quest For Camelot by David Foster, Carole Bayer Sager, Alberto Testa and Tony Renis. Celine Dion provided the singing voice for one of the main characters and this was one of 7 original songs on the soundtrack. Even though this was an English language film, the soundtrack also included an Italian version of "The Prayer", performed by Andrea Bocelli. The movie was a financial flop but "The Prayer" won the 1998 Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. It was also nominated for an Academy Award but lost to "When You Believe" from The Prince of Egypt, which it had beaten for the Golden Globe. The duet version between Dion and Bocelli was recorded after the movie release and was featured on Celine's October 1998 Christmas album, These Are Special Times and on Bocelli's 1999 album Sogno.

The song was written by David Foster and Carole Bayer Sager. It was released separately by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli. I forget the name of the movie but it was in a movie but it was not a Christmas movie nor is this a Christmas song. Pentatonix very fit only putting on their Christmas album and set it in a winter landscape. Absolute best time to release this song

I agree with you , Recky, that this is their best and most powerful song ever. I loved that Mitch was the lead with his angelic voice but his solos with Scott and Kirstin were just magical 💕 I have listened to this performance countless times and it just keeps getting better and better. Another really beautiful rendition is Bocelli with Katherine McPhee. McPhee was runner up on Idol, and was in the TV series Smash. She has some vocal chops.

This outdoes the original version with Andrea Bocelli/Celine Dion's version both for production (to be fair, they simply stood and sang) but also for vocals. Five people making as much sound as the orchestra and the singers, but also telling the story. Far more inspiring. I love Andrea Bocelli and have for years, but this version upgraded from the original. Scott is singing in Italian and Mitch is actually translating again like the original. And don’t forget they will do this live on tour. One thing especially good about PTX is they never record anything they can’t do live. This was the first song released on their newest album "Evergreen" for the Christmas tour 2021. This is not really a Christmas song but PTX made it work as one with the set.

I just came across your channel yesterday and was looking to see if you reacted to Pentatonix. But of course you did. And I looked for this one. Not disappointed in the least! That was a great reaction and similar to the one that I had when I first heard this song a few months ago. It will be eligible for a Grammy in 2023, but only if they get nominated. If there is a God there will be a fourth Grammy for this. And if there is a God, they're listening to this non-stop. Again, great reaction! Thank you for reviewing it.
