Man...this one gets me every time. I've literally heard thousands of versions of this song in my life, and this is the best one I've ever heard. Between Kirstie & Kevin's bagpipes drone under Matt's opening solo, Scott's soulful solo, Mitch's solo in his amazing lower register, Kirstie's stunning SOARING solo (with that wonderful vibrato that she has perfected in the last couple of years), and Kevin's icing-on-the-cake surprise at the end, this performance was absolute PERFECTION! This past Sunday (Independence Day here in the states, one of our biggest holidays), they appeared on the annual DC Capitol Fourth TV special and sang an exquisite version of the song Seasons of Love from the Broadway musical Rent. It also features a stunning soaring vocal solo from Kirstie. It's already all over KZbin. I suggest you check it out because it's fantastic!

This is one of my all time favorites of theirs. Everyone is absolute perfection in their solos, the harmonies are amazing, the "bagpipe" drone at the opening by Kirstin and Kevin sets the mood perfectly, and Kirstin's verse gives me goosebumps no matter how many times I hear it.

There was an interview with PTX where they asked them what their favourite song was from their Christmas album and Kirstie said it had to be Amazing Grace because it was so emtional to do. I think that's their trademark, that you can feel that they've given it their all. With their outstanding talent and their outstanding attitude they are so giving, and we are the beneficiaries.

Even though I am not a religious person, Pentatonix' version makes me cry every time I hear it. It is a cover of Chris Tomlins version Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone) of 2007. He added the 'new' lyrics. Someone said somewhere: Pentatonix don't do covers, they do upgrades. And this is definetely one of their masterpieces.

I am an atheist but I know church music. One thing that makes PTX as good as it is, they respect every song they cover. They know this song of course, they know its meaning its origin and they know its church music. SO they made it church music to a new level. Best cover ever of this song which is one of my all time favorites.

Aww. I loved how you declared so solemnly that you are a Pentaholic. Bless your emotional heart ❤. As always, a wonderful reaction from you! And yes, as others have suggested, Aha, Singapore, Star Vista. I think you're ready. And a heads up, it's a fanmade video from a camera phone so the audio is a little off. But it's definitely the best live PTX that I've seen. Kevin is off camera, but definitely there. And don't be confused by the choral beginning, it's definitely the right video. And (last And, I swear lol), you won't get copyrighted on this one, so no filter needed, and you don't even need to pause (though I'm pretty sure you will as you're gonna be shell-shocked hahaa).

"God damn it's so good! I'm still getting a church feeling..." Probably the most amusing quote used to describe this song! And you would look great in an all-white suit. Just don't forget the feathery angel wings on the back of the jacket - like Mitch! And we knew you would eat your words about Scott - no reason to get excited over that. Before I heard this version of Amazing Grace, I would have been hard-pressed to pick my favorite Pentatonix song. Now - it is definitely this one. I am a senior citizen, and have already told my family that whenever my time comes to pass from this world, I want this video played at my funeral. There won't be a dry eye in the house! Recky, you should also react to Home Free's version of "How Great Thou Art". Another misty-eyed song for sure! Great reaction! Thank You!!

I think it's their naked voices, virtually without embellishments, and each so uniquely distinct from another that we can identify who is doing what at any moment, that makes their music so poignant, so personal, and so moving. This song gets me, too. Btw, that dissonant droning sound that Kirstie (and Kevin?) is doing at the beginning, is a take-off on the bagpipes, which often play this song at funerals. The only reactor I've heard who identified it on first hearing was of Scottish heritage, so no shade on the rest of us, just another clever PTX twist. Great call on Kirstie's vibrato, beautifully appropriate here. And... did you notice Mitch's 'wings'?
