RA#2: Tovlama of the Rings of Fire - Bird operators only
New to RA2 are No Man's Land bosses that must be defeated for story progression, which provides a nice change of pace from just having to fight endless raids. For this battle against the Wandering Troubadour, I figured I might as well beat him up with birds since elemental healing and freeze are not things birds lack.
It's still not entirely free, given that the dude has 500K HP, 1200 DEF, and regenerates 1500 HP per second unless frozen (or if it's Monsoon season). Hellagur and Irene need ATK buff food to deal enough damage, and of course Gnosis has the -40% SP cost "supplement" to spam S3 as much as humanly possible. I need to find a more consistent way of getting the supermeat for SP reduction on more ops, as it's quite a fun time.

Pro tip: always do these superboss fights and raid interceptions the day after an autosave so you can savescum to figure out how enemies move around the map and where to best set up to kill them. I'm not above abusing the save system if they're gonna make it that easy to access. I'm also not above playing RA2 with the full force of my 6* roster, since actually trying to do all gathering/hunting/dispatches/boss raids with birds only would've actually just been suffering or at the very least pretty boring. Might go back and replay the other NML nodes with birds later on though.

The recipe for the -SP cost food is 1 crab claw and 2 marrow fungus, if anyone else was curious. Haven't tried out any SP shenanigans yet myself, but the camouflage food has been pretty interesting to play with.

is it okay if I just follow the speedrun tricks for this event? Would I miss any rewards?

If you abuse save loading to repeat the same 3 days over and over again to grind points by only hitting encounters, you can still get all the items in the shop (though it’ll take a while since HQ level adds a multiplier to your score). You’ll miss out on the medals, obviously.

It’s wild to me that a boss seems to need cold debuff to beat since only 4 operators so far can apply it

You can wait until monsoon season to fight it, which turns off the regen and burn aura

Don’t know that act 3 ending raid boss does, but the Sailraider would be a pretty boring fight since birds don’t exactly have strong binds asides from Magallan. It would probably just end up with the dude punching the 100k HP base while Fiammetta slowly grinds him down, since I wouldn’t be able to kill him outside of the base.

How do you actually get the food/provision buff? I still don't get it

In the cooking menu (at bottom of RA map screen) where you make all your energy drinks, there’s a button on the left side labeled “Cook”, where you can combine your various meats to create food. By far the most useful early cheap recipe is fowlbeast/puffball/leg meat or puffball x3 for -6 DP cost. It really helps to put that on vanguards.

@@Pengod I mean I know how to cook food. But how I apply the buff to my operators? I get something that give 50% atk buff and vigor effect. But I don't see any changes in my operator stats

When selecting an op for a team, on the left side there’s a menu called “provisions” where you can click the button and then select what food you want to feed the op

so may i ask how to unlock the requirement for the mountain pass to get to that path,i've been really struggle on it

I ended up using Archetto and Chongyue to do most of the damage to the northern region pass’ keystone, though Archetto needs a sp battery of some sort to be able to hit the keystone from the left side. Max HP food on Chongyue or whatever fast melee attackers you have (I hear Yato alter’s s1 is very good for this) so the volcanos don’t instantly cook them is also helpful

use beehuter, she nukes it due to having innate double hits on the brawler attack speed + her s2 makes her punch even faster

Fun fact give zuo le a barrier machine and +40% attack food and he can solo that sargonian princess boss or whatever you call her, he legit will kill her on his own as long as you use his s3 every single time it’s available immediately
