Just as well he had ants for breakfast than two early morning hikers 😅 Safe travels. Your insight & photography is always fantastic. 😎☕️

You know, being just "minutes" behind a grizzly has got to put your senses on alert and sharpen them a lot. I think I'd be walking with one hand on my camera and the other on my bear spray. Ha.

I just saw a grizzly near Yellowstone lake. We spent three days in the park which wasn’t near enough time for me.

I just summited a peak outside of yellowstone seen 15 different grizzly from the peak. This peak is covered with grizz this time of year. Most times they run away but this year had a very unique experience with a beat up sow. She was tore up pretty bad and missing one of her cubs from the day before when we were glassing she had 3 but now only 2 cubs. Pretty sure a boar just killed her cub within the day. When they saw us she ran her other cubs away in the opposite direction and proceeded to stalk me my daughter and are dog even though the cubs had already ran off the mountain she kept getting closer and closer with the worst look I've ever seen. To make it worse she literally cut us off and was standing in our only path off the mountain while a thunderstorm slammed us with pretty good size hail and lightning popping. She never actually charged directly at us just cut us off stalking us for a few hundred yards cut us off and waited directly in the path down. Finally she turned and walked over the ridge I was expecting a ambush but luckily never seen her again. I've been around many grizz and never seen one act like this before she looked plain evil. It's a day I'll never forget only way to describe the hail lightning wind and stalker bear all at once was wicked. Maybe are brown poodle looked like her cub or she was just in a horrible mood but in my 37 years on earth I've never seen anything look like she did and have no doubt in my mind had the encounter happen at close range it would have been a disaster.

Taking a dog with you in Grizzly country isn't very smart.

@@swainscheps Because dogs agitate bears and other predators and when the bears come after them the dogs run right back to you. The same reason most parks don't allow them on trails and off leash in the parks.

Always a good idea to be aware of bear activity hiking and camping in the wilderness I ignored all the obvious bear activity near my campsite in the Green Swamp in Florida and sure enough I had a black bear visit my backcountry camp in the middle of the night

Specific to black bears, I look for their scat, paw prints, tree scratches and look up into the trees. While on hikes, I am typically alone and will stop to listen and look back and to each side of the trail to ensure I am not being stalked I have seen many black bears but scared away even more that I never saw.. I have no experience with grizzlies and why I enjoy Stan's videos.

I've heard a sure sign of recognizing fresh grizzly bear vs. black bear signs are the tiny bells found in grizzly scat.
