@@23Michael23 yeah there are a lot of franchises that still live on or have even found massive success in other countries, an example that comes to mind is Lawsons, a convenience store chain that started in Ohio and eventually shut down operations in the US, but still exist as the 2nd largest convenience store chain in Japan

I remember Kenny Rogers Roasters. They were good, but the locations in my area all went out of business in the late 90's. I think they suffered from the same problem that Boston Market has had the last several years: you can buy a roasted chickens in any grocery store for 1/3 of the price as the restaurant. Whether they are as good or not is questionable, but the convenience and price beat out any restaurant.

The memory of Kenny Rogers Roasters definitely lives on with me. I used to LOVE Kenny Roger's, and miss it to this day. Whenever you didn't know where to eat, you could always rely on Kenny Roger's to satisfy. Their chicken AND their sides were the best. I still remember that smell as you would walk in. There used to be a Boston Market right across the street, and you wouldn't catch me dead in Boston Market, because Kenny Roger's was SO much better. Then the unthinkable happens ---- Kenny's closed down, and Boston Market keep chugging along, to this day. Makes me hate Boston Market even more.

They had the Best chicken pot pie in a bread bowl. No one has come up with anything close. I do miss it.

There were a couple of locations in Toronto, Canada. They didn't last because Canada already had two very well-established roast chicken chains: Swiss Chalet (John Candy's favourite) and St. Hubert, both of which are still thriving. Though, St. Hubert is primarily in the province of Quebec, Canada now.

We had Swiss Chalet restaurants in Buffalo in the early to mid 80s; what was the Transit and Maple Roads location is now a SPOT Coffee(Firehouse Subs was on the other half of the property until just recently).

When I am In the Philippines I go their. I have been to ones in Cebu, Naga, and Manila. The chicken is real good and in most of the Mails there. If you want potatoes you must ask for them or you will get rice. A great place to get an American meal!
