God, I hated the bitter taste of Folgers-brand coffee. But you know what? I would give anything to once again sit in my parent’s breakfast room, chatting away, while a pot of Folgers (in a clear Pyrex-brand percolator no less) bubbled away on the stove. So many times I should have said, “Thank you for all you did for me.”

Put a little bit of cinnamon in with your ground coffee before brewing it, it will taste better. Also, clean out your coffee pot with some distilled vinegar and water in the reservoir and an empty basket , run it through a brewing cycle then fill the reservoir with water and brew it again before brewing your coffee.

Growing up in the early 1960s I can still remember laying in bed in the morning, hearing my ma filling the coffee pot from the sink and a while later hearing the coffee pot percolating and smelling the scent of brewed coffee before my Dad left for work. This and the sound of wax paper being torn to wrap sandwiches for lunch. Sounds no longer heard in homes.

My mom made Folgers every single day as long as I can remember. In the 1960s, it was in an avocado colored electric percolator, and when I was little I loved sitting by the kitchen counter and watching it “bloop” into the glass handle on the top. In the mid 1970s we switched to a drip brewer, of course the ubiquitous Mr. Coffee. In the late 1980s my dad developed a passion for fresh ground and brewed coffee, when the gourmet whole bean craze began. But as a brand, Folger remains a positive memory in my heart.

My sister, Bea, suffered a stroke and lived in a nursing home until she passed away. She loved her coffee but the nursing home coffee was made weak. I kept her supplied with Folgers instant so she could add a teaspoon to her coffee. She would have several cups a day. I really liked the Christmas commercial. This may sound strange but somehow that commercial seems so American especially now when the young are being taught to hate being American.

I’ve never drank coffee, but I remember the Aroma in the mornings of waking up to it wafting throughout the house. Of course back then there were the Percolating Pots, which every adult I knew preferred. They could run a 1/4th amount of water into the Amount of Coffee needed for the pot. I had an uncle who would then wait beside that pot so that that first water added would soak up that water. Wait about 5 minutes then put it all the rest of the water needed before turning on the heat. Wood Stove or Pot Belly. But I remember everyone saying, He makes the very best coffee I ever tasted. I never knew where he learned that little trick of added an extra tablespoon of the ground coffee & where he go that idea of giving the semi soaked grounds to saturate before adding the rest of the water to make it the pot. Just watching it percolate was amazing to me, as I thought , how cool is this invention 😂 To Add: my Folks would only in emergencies Ever drink Instant Coffee. It just wasn’t the same. Just like that instant flavored tea & lemonade in powder form Ugh 😑 😂👌

Thank you for the memories of Mrs. Olsen and the best part of waking up. That jingle is still in my head to this day when I take the Folgers can down to make a pot. I've been drinking Folgers coffee since the mid-80s or so. At one point, French Roast was my choice but, as soon as they released Black Silk, that's the only thing I've drank since. What's weird is that in the last three months or so, they must have done something to the Black Silk as it's about half the strength it used to be (worse than their mild and Breakfast Blend). The first time it happened, my coffee came out looking like brown water. Now, I have to use double the amount of grounds as I used and therefore we are buying twice as much. I will be contacting them through their website and posting on their social media.

I like Folgers. For awhile they had a cinnamon work flavor (only available at Wal-Mart). They don't have it anymore...so I put 1 tbsp of ground cinnamon in my coffee & brew it together. Delicious! With no added calories & cinnamon is good for you.

Goodness, if I had a nickel for every cup I ever drank (seriously), I would be moderately well off. We still drink it every morning and evening.

Not big coffee drinkers at home when I was growing up. Mom had a percolater but only used it on Sunday morns. I had a friend from HS who lived in Freehold NJ. There was a Nestle coffee plant nearby. Always smelt coffee outside

Folgers used to be good coffee. But in the late 1980s their new crop of 28-year old CPAs forced a switch from the far superior Arabica coffee beans to a blend made with Robusta beans in order to save money. Even Maxwell House discontinued Robusta beans in 2007.
