My problem with SJM is that her and also her fandom (NOT EVERYONE) is toxic. She as a person cuz she doesn’t speak about her fandom that bullied an actress cuz they said she was too f** for the role of Feyra, or the fact that the fandom posts spoilers or threatened others for their ship...of fictional characters.

Regarding SJM, I am 100% pro-Palestine, but I do want to point out that it's kind of unfair to criticize anyone who has served in the IDF because Israel has compulsory military service. All of its citizens are required to complete 24 months of military service, so I don't think it's valid to criticize those who have served because they literally have no choice. I know a lot of people don't know this fact about Israel, though, so it's easy to miss/forget! I don't know why she hasn't spoken out. It's a really, really bad look. I will say, though, half of my family is Jewish, and I know that for them, they've grown up/been raised on the idea that Israel is this magical place where it's safe to be Jewish and being Jewish doesn't make you different. And it's really hard for them right now to reconcile this with the fact that in order to create this safe space for Jewish people, it meant taking away safe spaces/safety from other people, most notably Palestinians. It is absolutely necessary for them to face this, even though it's hard, but a lot of them aren't speaking out because they don't know how they feel about everything yet, specifically Israel as a state. And I think that that's fine, if she feels torn, or confused, right now, as long as she's putting in the work to unlearn the harmful ideas that she grew up with. This was suuuuper long, but I hope I made sense!

if you’re looking for something more like Punk 57, the Devils Night series would be the closest option of the books that Penelope has written. Misha and Ryen appear in the series (one of the main characters is related to Misha), and the series consists of all dark romances, which are the closest in vibe to Punk 57. Honestly, the series is very dark, but if you’re craving some drama and bully romances, its quite the ride!
