Drone video of the modernization of the railway line Kalotina-west - Svilengrad N1 - in the section from Dragoman to Petarch, section of the railway highway to Serbia and of the European corridor "East-West"
The modernization of the railway section Dragoman to Petarch is a large-scale project in the Operational Program "Transport and Transport Infrastructure" 2014-2020. The value of the construction contract is BGN 275,000,000 excluding VAT, and the contractor is the Greek "Tepna" JSC, but it has subcontractors - "Πopp Bay" LLC, "АЖД Πpaгa" OOD and "Balĸantel" OOD. The repair completion time is 48 months.
The construction of the section from Petarch to Dragoman includes the doubling of a 17 km railway section and the modernization of a 4 km single railway line. A speed of up to 160 km/h will be reached, which will cut the travel time from Sofia to Dragoman by two times by train.
Tracks, platforms and catenary will be replaced. A new Slivnitsa railway station and a new Petarch reception building will be built. The station in Aldomirovtsi will be reconstructed.
Within the project, 5 road overpasses, 2 railway overpasses, 1 railway overpass and a new drainage system for the entire section will be built.
To increase safety, new signaling and telecommunication systems will be built. Level crossings will be removed and replaced by two-level crossings.
The contracts for the construction of the Voluyak-Dragoman railway line were already signed in April 2021, but the actual start of the activities was delayed due to financing problems. In addition to the section between Petarch and Dragoman, the 35-kilometer route also includes the Voluyak - Πetpch section.
