Back in the 2011 floods the whole field was underwater for months and the town of Lightning Ridge was isolated for about 3 weeks. This flood was just a tiddler by comparison.

Check out the weather forcast for this week, another flood is approaching. Miners who's mine was flooded in 2011 should become proactive and cover their shaft entrance with corrigated iron and dump a truck load of dirt on it to keep flood waters out of the mine. Do the same for adjacent mines and test holes to defend your claim.

I wonder if people who know nothing about mines think that this is what people do when they say they work Fifo or work on the mines. Mines owned by big companies are literally like mini towns. They have swimming pools,pubs,little shops, airstrips, fast food, private bedrooms with cleaners ect ect ect

Did anyone else notice several nice colours just lying around after being washed off. My sympathy for all of you but keep your eyes open the rain can expose treasure.

Would sand bagging around the mine shaft have helped? Maybe 5-7 bags high all the way around. One would think it'd make the water divert around with very little run off into the mine. Right?
@prone15483 жыл бұрын
Probably would've, even making those heaps of dirt surround the holes would've helped a great deal, think the problem here was was lack of time

So apparently in Australia they don't require safety protocols like. Mine shafts protected from anything walking into them or structures to keep water out. A simple 3 foot wall would of done the job.

Could of collar around the entrance saved it?
@bnetolldnataman4 жыл бұрын
You could build collars but how high do you go?? I guess even a 600 mm collar would’ve saved a few of these mines??

You dont understand the nature of the ground. What comes out of mine goes to soup when you add water. To many shafts with interlinking drives to stop them filling up.
