My longest trip so far was 163km. That was with an unpowered semi-recumbent. I took a break every 45min to fuel up and hydrate as it was very hot day. I also did my best to not exceed average speed of 18km/h because i didn't know when i would encounter my "wall". Well thanks to my moderation in everything i actually ended going faster on the way back and never really felt exhausted during the trip. Bit under 12 hours all in all on the road. I might be able to do 200km but it would probably be far from nice experience and with no time to "smell the roses". So I'm rebuilding my recumbent into an electric bike. Only 1200wh battery for now, I'll add more if i see slightly used ones for sale at a good price. 300km seems plausible without having to experience risky speeds like you did with this one.

My challenge is that I don’t often take breaks, although I know I should. A 1200wh battery is actually quite efficient if you’re exclusively using pedal assist. I have a 1600wh battery pack that I use daily for my commutes and as a backup battery in my leisure time. It’s been going strong for 7 years now. Does your semi-recumbent bike have a specific model name, or is it a custom build? Thanks for the comment.

Thanks for posting your longrange e-bike ride videos. Since I have started building my own batteries for my E-Bikes the capacities allow me quite long rides although they are nowhere close to your one day trips. I have a 10s5p Samsung 50E / 900 Wh and a 13s5p Samsung 40T / 960 Wh. Using my upright 26" MTB with RH 212 direct drive rear motor I mostly ride from 130-165 km+ per day and after 8-9 hrs on the bike I do not really feel for longer trips even if the batteries are not empty ;-)

Hey, riding 130-160km is quite pleasant; I even do it often. This road trip allows time for sightseeing and relaxation. Once a year, I get so adventurous that I extend the distance to over 300km. I contemplated building my own batteries, but I lacked the courage and didn’t want to invest in the technology. So, I decided to leave it to the experts. I sleep better at night knowing I didn’t take on the task myself. Choosing such a large battery pack was an easy decision as I often use only throttle for relaxed rides, which increases power consumption. If I were solely reliant on pedal assist, your batteries would be perfectly suited for my long-distance rides. Thanks for the comment; it’s always nice to read stories shared by fellow e-bike enthusiasts.

@@DatEbikeGuy Hey, after building around 30+ e-bike batteries the last years (I have lost count how many it actually are) I would say that a lot of companies (esp on AliExpress) are far from being expert. I´ve seen commercially build batteries which were worse produces than my first packs which I soldered using 1.5mm² copper wire. No extra isolation on the plus pole, too thin connections between single cells, no cellholder but cells glued together directly on the shrink wrap. But in the end I see you point. Nevertheless things can get along very nicely if you combine cheap quality cells from nkon, self designed cellholders you print yourself and some DIY skills. The 13s5p 40T pack I build for my fatbike costed me below 200€.

448km in one day wearing normal clothing, none of that dressing up like a condom nonsense. Very, very impressive. How well do your legs cope with switching to the recumbent from a normal bike? Thanks for another inspiring video, made me go start prepping my bike.

Hey. I’ve never been drawn to clothing that emphasizes body contours. The sole exception is cycling pants, which I frequently wear beneath other trousers. The shift to a recumbent bike proved to be quite challenging. Specifically, I believe it engages the leg muscles differently, and I hadn’t previously trained these muscles. I initially attempted to cover an excessive distance without using the motor. Consequently, during the 60km ride, I experienced about three severe cramps. Each time, I had to pause, wait for the cramp to subside, and then continue riding. I love seeing familiar names and subscribers commenting on my videos, thanks 👍

@@DatEbikeGuy Well we love seeing your videos mate, many thanks for making them buddy! Thanks to inspiration from your videos Ive just finished building my long range e-recumbent and battery. Im still not used to riding it so the bike remains a killer on the leg muscles. Just holding your legs in place with them so far out front is taxing, so perhaps its time give clipless pedals a try. Have you also given them a go? I also wasn't prepared for just how slow it is going uphill. Lots of leg spinning, but little actual movement over ground... Still at least I dont wobble all over the place like Ive had a recent brain injury anymore. Riding a recumbent is like starting all over again with cycling. Look forward to the next installment.

@@StartledPancake I’ve never used clipless pedals, nor have I ever even considered them. I don’t have anything negative to say about them. However, they do present a unique challenge. They lock into place with a specific motion, and if you suddenly need to stop but forget to disengage them or lack the muscle memory to do so, you could find yourself in a painful situation... If you often find your feet slipping off the pedals while driving, clipless pedals could be a solution. It’s quite amusing, indeed. Having ridden a traditional bike all my life, I found myself needing to learn how to ride again, this time on a recumbent bike. I chose to practice in the privacy of my room to avoid providing entertainment for the neighbors. It took ~30minutes to get balance right. Thanks for your comment and kind words!

I’ve had a recumbent bike (Cruzbike S40) since last summer and it's been an amazing time! I can ride all day and not feel any discomfort. Riding an upright bike I usually take breaks every 10-15 miles, not because my legs are tired but because my ass hurts lol. I definitely recommend getting into recumbents.

Good to know the benefits of large batteries.

Hey and thanks for the comment. Indeed, given the windy Baltic weather and a passion for covering distances comparable to those of a car, relying on a larger battery becomes an inevitable choice.

Hey ja tõepoolest hästi õeldud. Tänagi hull tuuline ilm, vastutuulega enda commuting rattaga 1000w põhjas ja vaevu 20km/h kohati, taganttuulega ~300w ja 40km/h. See rõve tuuline ilm oligi põhjuks miks ebikinduse tulin + närvid jäävad terveks kui baltikliimase üks monster aku peal on.

Väga mõnus vaatamine, mis innustab. Olen vist elektrirattaga sõitmisest sõltuvusse jäänud. Ja ümbruskonna kõvakattega kõrvalmaanteed koos elektrirattaga on parim lõõgastusviis.

What is the purpose to break record... Any record.... And particularly what is the purpose to break record of motorized bicycle??? Quite weird.

Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed today? Asking why we bother to eat or breathe might seem like a pointless question, same thing. However, I’m more than happy to answer your query. My personal achievements don’t necessarily establish that I’m superior to you or anyone else. Instead, they serve as motivation, demonstrating that it’s possible to cover long distances on an e-bike and use it as a daily substitute for a car. As I don’t own a car, in my case, that’s one less vehicle on the road.
