Oh brotha I understand your pain. I have had so many big shifts that I am actually starting to name each one like we do Hurricanes!!!!

If i’m in a shitty mood like i could have been now (hospitalized with internal bleedings), i just jump on one of Mazzy’s jolly good, informative videos, and everything is cool.

Herbie Mann issued over 60 LPs you have a deep collection. Memphis Under ground and Push Push my favorites. Great collection and great video.

Hi Mazzy, I just subscribed. Found that RCA Django Reinhardt not too long ago. It’s really great! Charlie Parker...what a staggering figure in jazz! I was introduced to jazz by reading Kerouac books in my teens, and Parker’s Dial label recordings were what got me started. Solo Monk is fantastic! My favorite Herbie is Memphis Underground (I am to Memphis as you are to San Fran.) Great content on your channel, my friend! Peace, Ron

I love this. I’ve been in the middle of a medium-sized shift for the past 6 months. It’s taking forever. I couldn’t even imagine what it’s like with a collection like yours.

I’m starting to have big shifts, like you said buying a kallax and such that’s my first big shift I used to use two plastic crates. Now I’m almost out of room on my 2x2 kallax and it’s time to think of a new idea for storage! Also I hide my records from my parents haha, my mom hates it when I come home with a bunch of records she thinks it’s a complete waste of money! Amazing records also I’m starting to get into jazz and now I have some more albums to check out thanks! Cheers - Mason

Hey Mazzy - I love the album cover for Green's "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" album. That one and Duke Pearson's "Sweet Honey Bee" are probably my two favorite jazz album jackets. Those Herbie Mann records do look nice. I have a great Herbie Mann cd called "Peace Pieces" - he plays the music of Bill Evans. Good luck with the Big Shift!

Funny! When i was in my late teens living in los angeles i would have to also sneak my records home..." Are you spending all your money on records!!" My parents would also say! So i would sneak around and knock on the back bedroom window and my brother would take my pile of jazz records from Sam's record store on 5162 west adams blvd...funny thing is my dad who grew up loving jazz in l.a. quietly built me a record cabinet. He saw all the greats in the late thirties..ellington, basie, holliday, early nat cole, lunceford (have autographed copy)..i agree with you enough of blue note already!! I love riverside. My favorite is Sal Nistico "Comin on up" and "Heavyweights" straight ahead cookers!! Nice rundown and video. Thanx mazzy!...check out george "shearing on stage" nice live analog concert (get 60's rainbow label)

My big shift included buy more shelves for both cd and vinyl. I can't wait for the day I have to get a bigger house for all the music, now that would be a really big shift, but it would mean I have way more music ,,, so bring it on. (love your pants Mazzy)

Yes, I am in the midst of "the big shift", but I am still trying to maintain everything filed together with no separate genres.

I was tempted to get an original Bethlehem pressing of Nina's debut for a decent price, but the cover and vinyl weren't in a condition befitting of Nina's splendor. I'll try to find a reissue, but that Colpix collection is good, and any of her Philips albums are must-haves. I'm not as big on her RCA stuff except, "Nina Sings the Blues."

Someone needs to issue a warning to all newbies and naives about "Electronically re-channeled stereo". As a Kinks fan you need to tell anyone who wants purchase a pre Face to Face Kinks Lp that all early Reprise Lps are only worthwhile in mono. Same goes for DC5 and some of the London label 60's releases Like Nashville Teens and 1st Moody Blues. It would be a public service!

Those are the two Monk albums. Solo Monk is one you can play all day (and night) long. Monk. swings like a mofo and its cover is the GOAT.

I want to take a Big Shift....but I want to build my own shelves out of real wood, not that particle board shit, and make them sturdy and exactly the size I want. That's my eventual goal.

Mazzy, I'm a day and half into my first Big Shift. I want to pull all my hair out. Is there a book on how to do the shift without having a total meltdown, like The Big Shift for dummies. Do you put your records on the just by artist or by label and artist. Thank you for your video, I love watching them

Playing a Blue Note Record in the back ground, all the while dogging blue Note Records. They are the most historically important label n this idiom, hands down end of story! To grow tired of Blue Note is to grow tired of Jazz period. Enjoyed the video otherwise.

I’d never diss Blue Note. Love the label and almost everything they’ve put out. I’ve really built my Music Matters Jazz and Tone Poet issues since pristine originals are hard to get for decent prices. The audiophile seem better priced based on their great analog quality
