Not spinning anything because everything in this house can actually disturb the turntable which makes the record skip. It is caused by people closing fridge doors, walking up stairs, something like that.

Collecting records is one of the most gratifying ways to support artists. Specailly buying through their websites. It makes me feel better when I listen to the music on Spotify when I am not home, knowing I have directly supported them through my vinyl and CD collection.😅

Top reasons for me for collecting records is 1) how satisfying it is to see everything working to play music in that format, and 2) music preservation in an age where nothing is owned and can be taken away in a blink.

"You might not remember the first mp3 you downloaded, but you're definitely gonna remember the first record you ever got." And that is so true! I vividly remember the first record I got. It was LP1 by FKA twigs, and I bought it in Portugal at Fnac. I remember being obsessed not only with the album, but also with the artwork, and when I saw it I was like "Damn this would be great decor for my bedroom" lol

I have to say, the memory aspect is awesome. The first records I got, I found in the garage during a boring afternoon and belonged to my late grandmother. The first one I bought was Thriller, and I actually gave my grandpa the wrong directions home from Hollywood so I could swing by Amoeba.

I couldn't agree more with the crate digging part. It's my absolute favorite part about collecting records. Besides doing some historical research, you can also make friends, share stories and much more. It's also so relaxing, like meditation. Crate digging has got to be the funniest way to socialize there is.

The first album I bought was Led Zeppelin 2, in November 1970. It was purchased from gift monies, on my 13th birthday. My Dad took me too Kmart after school, & there it was! The Anticipation was unreal. It had been released for almost a year by then. The excitement of buying albums particularly in the 70’s, was everything to me. Led Zeppelin 2 is still my favourite album of all time. 👌

Nice, I bought my first record when I was 13 too. It was a DJ record by the Noisecontrollers. Because DJing was cool back in 2006, but CD/USB decks were too expensive for high school kids.

I love this video. You hit some good points... even as you closed out! No ads, no wifi, no problem! 1 thing I love / hate but really appreciate about my records is the required interaction with the record. When its playing I really enjoy it because I know I can just have it on repeat. I Can ignore it or the moment will be gone. If the needle is on the record my ears have to open for business.

Great video. I loved your point about making memories finding records so I thought I’d share one of mine. I remember my girlfriend was looking for Lord Huron’s Strange Trails for months and everything on eBay was between 80 to 100 bucks because it was a limited splatter style pressing. One day we were at a regional chain store that specializes in used and new media like games, movies and records and we asked if any store had it in stock. One location about 40 minutes from us did have it for 20 bucks brand new. Granted it was just on black vinyl, but she was fine with that as she just wanted the album. And 20 is a good price for a double LP. We called them up and put it on hold but due to bad weather conditions, we couldn’t go out for three days and they have a 48 hour hold policy so they said if we didn’t get there by first thing next day they’d put it back on display. I’ll never forget waking up at 9am to pick her up and driving about 45 minutes out just so we’d get there as their doors opened to pick up her record. And to make things even better, that’s the day I found my personal favorite album, The Queen is Dead by The Smiths so both of us found some of our top favorite records that day.

I enjoy listening to music. There is always music in my flat, be it from my wee radio, or CD or from my Vinyl collection. I live alone so I don’t upset anyone lol. My flat isn’t large so space is a premium, and to this end I buy Jazz, or Blues or certain Soul records only. I have a turntable with speakers. It wasn’t an expensive set up, basically because I can’t afford to buy expensive equipment. I enjoy what I have and I visit my local store plus an out of town store about 5 miles away. I also attend Vinyl record fairs every month, although in August I will be visiting two fairs. To sum up I love Vinyl collecting. Thank you for your video’s informative and interesting. Take care

I found a Technics SL-220 next to the dumpster back on July 4, 2016, and decided to save it. It needed a new belt, and a new cartridge, and I got those earlier this year. My dad recommended that I should start collecting records, and I got myself a good vintage Onkyo TX-850 receiver in January. My dad sent me some 8 ohm Sony SS-B1000 bookshelf speakers to use in place of the 6 ohm JVC speakers that came with my compact JVC stereo. My first album I got on vinyl was Misplaced Childhood by Marillion (originally released in 1985). I have 8 albums on vinyl and I'm enjoying this awesome hobby. The stereo separation on vinyl is way more pronounced than digital streaming services and MP3s.

I recommend joining a local Facebook group, there usually pretty friendly people, and most are quite knowledgeable ,there's always someone selling off an old collection or has doubles for trade, it's a great way to grow that collection and meet new people,You'll often find more harder to find stuff or even a lot of albums that are out of circulation as well

This is something i found out in the 80's .If you buy a new record that has never been played, there are no "clicks" or "pops" on the record to start with. This results from the stylus sending shock waves through the vinyl punching minute holes through the other side. New records have to be thoroughly cleaned to remove residues and other contaminates before playing them. When i started this hobby, I bought a Duall 1009 turntable with a ceramic cartridge. Next upgrade was a Thorens TD 150 belt drive turntable with no arm. I bought the ADC Pritchard tone arm made of wood with a Shure mag. cartridge. Next was a Thorens DT125 Turntable to whitch i added a JH Formula 4 Uni-pivot tonearm and a ADC XLM cartridge. Each change brought better sound. You are actually involved in changing the sound to your liking which is why this hobby is so rewarding. The one i have now is a Pro-Ject 6 Perspex magnetic suspension turntable fitted with a Hadcock (made in England) Uni-pivot tonearm and a Denon DL301 mk2 moving coil cartridge. I think this will do me out. Today, i will be spinning Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass - Greatest Hits.

I like it because it’s instant. I just flip on the switch and it plays the music wherever I left off. I don’t have to turn on my speaker… connect to Bluetooth, make sure I’m in range… etc. Cd player would do the same thing, but it’s not as cool.

Ive been collecting records since 2013. Love the sound of a vinyl, i actually currently buy my new albums on vinyl instead of a CD if the band/artist release the albums...i also buy used records wich is very fun, visiting recordstores and spemd hours flipping around. I only have about 50 lp records and 30 ep 7" singles right now but its gonna be more. Ive learned that vinyl sounds warmer, actually better than cds...and vinyls dont have to pop and make noise either, the new vinyls dont actually make major noices.... you cant beat the enalog sounds. I now enjoy listening on vinyls on weekends and after a day at work with my Argon TT turntable and Argon active speakers.

There’s something wonderful about listening to vinyl records it is fantastic. I really love the surface noise on 78 I had to try listening to wax cylinder recordings that would be cool to listen to. I never bought an albino box that before until recently I bought the Beatles Abbey Road at SuperDeluxe I couldn’t wait for it to be delivered in the mail. I’ll be glad to support any band by buying their albums and any merchandise.

It's so funny! I've done a complete 360 through my life. I'm 50 years old, started with albums, went through the whole progression (minus 8 tracks) and now i'm back (for 4 years now) with a turntable and kick ass Stereo Amplifier and speakers. Nothing can beat a nice clean original analog pressing for sound quality (my personal opinion) Plus just handling the record and reading the liner notes. My first album I purchased with my paper route money back in the day was The Doors Strange Days album.

I have four turntables (one is the very one you started out with), and my granddaughter really wanted a starter for Christmas. Believe it or not, I got her something I've always hated, but had to take the pragmatic perspective: A Crossley Cruiser (actually the Victrola version) in Tie die. She loves that thing and plays records constantly. She's 12. I have thousands of records, many in multiple copies, and she wanted some Elvis and Linda Ronstadt. So I gave her some. She loves that stuff. Next time she comes down here, I'll throw a few more her way. And I suspect she'll eventually end up with that nice RT85.

I've been buying vinyl for 30 years, I wish they had the ability to try it before you buy it. I bought of albums, where the music wasn't great, from great bands. There will be used albums with very high prices. The more obscure the album the more it costs. There are albums I have never seen in person from the late 60's and into the 70's. I have only heard them on KZbin.

Hi I sent you an email about the Fluance models 81,82,83,84,85 When playing 45 rpm records your turntable may slowdown this sis due to the Auto Stop sensor being activated during play of a 45 rpm with short lead in grooves meaning longer time on the 45 record then most! I have run into this and found out to be true from Fluance saying this could happen and to fix this you just turn off the auto stop feature before playing 45 rpm records! Like I said not all 45's will cause this! Happy playing!

Music has been a huge part of my life and still is. Ever since I was a kid I enjoyed listening to music. I buy music because I like to listen to it; not to collect it. The beautiful artwork on vinyl is a very nice plus. Physical formats have always been my preferred format and I don't even have any streaming account. I do stream but only my own physical formats that have been ripped to my home nas. The streaming is usually for background music. When I'm actively listening I will usually be listening to a physical format. The part that I hate about streaming sources such as Spotify and the likes is that those services are promoting our "trash society". Easily consumed but just as easily forgotten (trashed). That's not the way I want to treat the art of music! Song of the day: Six Blade Knife - Dire Straits. Just to prove my above point, this track has never been a hit of the band but it is a fantastic song. Well that complete album is fantastic actually.

I remember that I ordered the Beatles stereo box that from 2012 they didn’t have it, I’ve never ordered anything from Music Millennium before but that was the first time I’ve ever done it it was great, I couldn’t wait to take that box at home with me I was with my cousins Mark and Kathy Brown and I remember Kathy was showing me all the things that she grew in her garden, and the thing was Mark was saying we need to get going because the records were by the sunlight and I asked Mark are the records OK? He reassured me that they were I love collecting vinyl I wanna make sure to take care of all of my CDs cassettes and vinyl records including 7845s and albums 33s. I just got an original copy of Synchronicity from my dad, and unbeknownst to me, it had a 7” hidden in the sleeve with “Every Breath You Take” on it. I was confused at first because the hole in the center is so large, how would I play this on an LP120????

Hello @Vinyl Eyezz! I was wondering if you have any vintage records in your collection, because I know that older ones are produced through pure analog from the original master tapes, and the new ones are mastered from digital. Thanks!

Who would have thought that after tapes and cds were suppose to replace vinyl but the cds are now a cheaper medium and vinyl records are the main go to for home listening but cds are just a car format and tapes are also making a comeback and the phone digital forma is even getting less use illegally because people realize the work musicians put out some bands have to hold down a job and their music career is only a short lived thing so they gotta do with that little success they had and now work their ass off like most ppl

I recently bought TOOL’s Opiate cassette and it got eaten by an old 1987 walkman. Is there anyway to repair or lessen the wrinkles on a wrinkled cassette tape? Please help brother!

Most of these also apply to CDs, but record covers are bigger and work better as part of room decor. For me the main reason to get a record player was to get music that is unavailable on CD or as a lossless digital download, or is rare/expensive in those formats. There is a lot of music that was for example released mostly on a record and on a cassette, and it is easier to get a used record that isn't in poor condition than a cassette. Plus you can wash a filthy record with water and dish soap, and definitely can't do that with a cassette. Records are also way more chemically stable, so they are less likely to be messed up by things like humidity or mold. CDs remain my format of choice, but records have a certain coolness factor about them, because of how old and simple the invention is, and because future humans (like >1000 years) or alien archaeologists will be more likely to figure out how to play them when we are all dead and rotten.

Hi Vinyl Eyezz, may I ask a question? I remember you said we should always keep the inner sleeve for collection value, however, a lot of inner sleeves are just white paper, those shouldn't affect anything if I discard them, I assume?

Yeah, that's right. I would replace these white sleeves with anti static inner sleeves though. (The ones with the plastic inside.)

May I Ask anyone a question? I want to buy active speaker addon c 10 - and connect it directly to audio technica turntable . However I see There is " ground" thing apart from The red and white cable and I can see the speaker does not have place for this " ground" thing. So I should connect it and ignore this ground metal piece? Im totally New to turntables....

I was going to invest in a new turntable….but the price of vinyl has become way over priced….so for the time being I’m sticking with my CD collecting…
