I got back into vinyl about 5 years age. Then you could get really good stuff for $5.00. The popularity of vinyl today has at least doubled those prices.

I can’t say I was much of a fan in my youth, but enjoy hearing the hits now. The historical familiarity of some songs conjures up memories of a different time, even if those memories aren’t directly tied to a specific song.

I have that Madonna album, all the songs are good. I bought it at Tower Records when it first came out through a recommendation of a worker there who knew his music - she wasn't popular yet. Borderline or Holiday (I forget) was just hitting the radio stations at the time. Damn I'm old. 😪

I love her episodic mixups, they’ve become a staple on this show. I just hope they don’t paint her in a negative light, for this is all in good fun and what viewers don’t know, is that a lot of what you see in these episodes is her doing. This really is her show. She’s the driving force behind it and she is extremely particular and dedicated to the editing process. I know it’s sometimes hard for her to have to watch some of these bits after the fact, but she continually puts herself out there and I’m very proud of her for it.

Should have grabbed that Touch of Schmilsson lp. Harry Nilsson was a great artist. Can't fault you for Steve Martin. Tumbleweed Connection is one of Elton's Best. Blue Bayou is on Linda's greatest hits vol 2. I see you got Simple Dreams as the video ended so you got it.

You guys ever hit the Goodwills? I feel like many of the records you guys get excited about could be had at a GW for a dollar eventually. Can't tell you how many times I say to myself "that's a dollar record at GW" as you go through the bins. And also, that Elton John record, "Tumbleweed Connection" is possibly his best. That was the best record you guys found.

We have hit stores such as Goodwill but haven't had any luck. Either they don't have any records or the offerings are so small that it's not enough to make an entire episode. Besides, we prefer to showcase the record store, the owner(s) and their history.

I just picked up some records from someone on Facebook the other day and they had multiple of every single Corey Hart albums and 45 so I don't what to do with all of them. Sunglasses at Night and Never Surrender are great songs but I have no idea what to do with all of them now 😆 He even messaged me the other day asking if I wanted some frames and inside the frames were more Corey Hart.

Is it etiquette in your part of the world with second hand vinyl to have a look at the actual lp before you buy it?

Yes, it's perfectly fine and it's vital to check the condition of second hand vinyl before buying it, so either check with store personnel first if in doubt (never buy a record if they won't let you inspect the vinyl first) or simply go ahead and check condition if you are looking in Goodwill or Salvation Army Thrift Stores. In some second hand vinyl stores, they even offer to let you listen to the album first on one of their turntables before buying it to check for pops, clicks, or deep scratches. :)

I started my career as an illustrator actually. I was accepted to The Art Center College of Design's illustration program as well as their advertising track. I ultimately chose advertising over illustration on a whole because I thought it had more universal career appeal, but have always had an affinity for illustrated works. My wife and I saw the Oak Ridge Boys in concert at the Clay County Fair in Spencer Iowa in 2015. They still sounded great in spite of their advanced years. Then again, none of us are getting younger:)
