We've had a record snowfall, cold temps and a late spring. This was last week! Check out the recent 12+hr snowfall and how I cope on my own with what Mother Nature has to throw my way. #cabindweller #cabinlife #yukon

Oh wow, another snowstorm! I would check flea markets or wait for off-season sales on adding one or two extra-large shovels! You know one near the house, one for the car and one for the quad or near the sheds. Only sharing this since getting older I forget where I've left a broom. 😁
@CabinDweller3 жыл бұрын
We don't have any flea markets here but yeah I should look at the stores now for shovels, if they aren't all gone and returned or sold. Haha, I can relate to losing things.

Great music section, especially the intro! Please promise me this summer you will find a pu truck hood,throw your tires on top and then pile rocks in the tires for weight that way you have a wider driveway packed down. Build a 3 sided leantoo to park your car,truck,plow and 4 wheeler under lord you're killing me lol,kinda like your woodpile shack but a tad bigger.... I know I'm the nagging dad but....lol

You are not alone we go from record highs to a day of snow, thankfully the warm previous day put enough heat into the road and sidewalk so the snow was only on the grass. Wish all winter was like that.

I dont know about you, but i live on the mark of 61,7 latitude. What is so amazing to me, is that we kind of have the similar weather pattern. Last April spring was early. This April is considered a winter month. This monday, we had well over a foot of snow, and cold, like -6.. GAAAH!! :) Today though, snow is melting away fast, sun is intense and we are in for some warm weather. FINALLY!! :) Birds are chirping away, they dont care about snow, they are all about the daylight. We had spring in March and April went back to dead on winter mode.. I keep my fingers crossed spring is finally here now.. We need a story about the snow shovel, let us know when the sun finds it! :) Thank you for sharing!
@CabinDweller3 жыл бұрын
We're similar latitudes! Same weather for sure, April has been a whirlwind of -30 and snow dumps like we've never seen! Where are you located again? Haha the shovel, it disappeared one day. No doubt it's out on the trail somewhere waiting for me to find it!

Snow ranting, I am with you! Buy a small tractor with a snow blower attachment and you may never see snow again but if you do it won’t be such a pain in the ass. Take it from an old guy who has been there and done that!
@CabinDweller3 жыл бұрын
That is 100% true, it was so much work and effort this year trying to make the road wide enough! Then if we get a ton of snow in future years, I'll look forward to blowing it instead of plowing.

I hear you, girl. Same weekend we got 18 inches here in Alaska. 2 days before I had my hard pack removed. Totally snowed in. I cried! 😂 My neighbor came over with his loader and did my driveway again. There was no way I would do that with my snowblower. Have a long driveway too. Couldn’t get out for 3 days because the road wasn’t drivable. It’s a small gravel road, we are the last on the list. It was a long winter. I really hope we are done with it!!

I was REALLY wishing I had one last week. It would have been perfect, the snow was light and fluffy. I'm going to see how much it would be to install and buy when I take the quad in for maintenance later. That said, this year was an anomaly for snowfall. It broke 100 year records!

That’s still winter! But who knows this year. Haven’t gotten much snow and temps are pretty warm. Just have good tires, 4wd and don’t speed!
@graniteridgegreens62783 жыл бұрын
In being self sufficient I'd suggest a blower attachment to the front of that 4 wheeler, much quicker and keeps the banks down not needing a snow push area. You could do the Ken method of 1/8 mile swaths walking behind a 5 hp 24 inch blower for a total of two miles! Having a front end blower with it's own engine works so well leaving time for all the Other Chores we choose to live! Lol Cheers and Peace Out
@CabinDweller3 жыл бұрын
A few people have suggested that but it's a big investment for an area where we normally don't actually get that much snow. This year broke records, it was insane. I'm gonna price them out though haha. I agree, I'd love to spend way less time plowing!
@graniteridgegreens62783 жыл бұрын

The funny thing is, everyone is telling me to get a snow blower or something but we never get this much snow. It’s usually not a problem to clear since we’re considered a ‘semi arid’ climate! But I hear ya, living in a van in warmer temps sounds amazing.
