As always, I camped out overnight at Amoeba Hollywood for Record Store Day 2019 to try my luck at getting some sweet exclusive vinyl releases. The first half of this video is a vlog of the evening, and the second half (starting at 10:00) is my vinyl haul! I got a weird perspective, since we just bought a record store in Jan. Has been in business for 25+ yrs. For multiple reasons we don't keep a ton of records personally, I'd call it "attempting minimalism" so we waited to see if anything we were wanting would be still available at the end of the day. I got Halestorm, I have gotten to hang out with Lzzy, she came into the store before a show, we surprised her with an album she wanted at the show, then she invited us to eat and hang out after the show. I've seen her perform probably 4 times only after becoming interested fully when one of my fiance's first surprises for me years ago was tickets, then he started working at said record store we now own. It was about 3 yrs ago that we got to hang out with her because she came into the store. Then one of the Rocklahomas I went to. It was definitely one on my list if one was still available. Sadly everything else I was hoping for was scooped up. We were not as prepared come day to order as we should have been. No one left empty handed but we knew quickly before RSD even happened that we under ordered. Like I said in my other comment, we will be so much more prepared next time! I can see how some may complain about record store day, especially knowing how hard it is to even get what you did order, but all in all I love the event. It really does bring all the music love together over Vinyl and can be a ton of fun for all.

Super happy with my haul!!! Crow Soundtrack Bingo Hand Job Gorillaz The Struts Green Day Both Weezer albums Julien Baker Decided against the Pearl Jam album and rolling the dice it gets a full release for the 10 club. Put Green Jelly back felt more novelty to me. I had the cd and don't remember listening to it all that much. Left it for someone who would appreciate it more. My store didn't have A-ha or Stereophonics so will order them online. Great day! Had a ton of fun!

I only really wanted Marlene Dietrich / David Bowie 7" single and I got it. That's really cool you have lines on RSD because I bet it adds up to the experience, excitement, fun etc. In my country, it's not that highly attended. I went few minutes after the store opening and there were like four people inside, no line at all. Somebody asked for a certain record though and they said it's already gone. Therefore, I like to believe that I got my record because I reserved it and paid a tiny part of the value. I'm wondering if in any countries besides Poland they also offer a chance to reserve and pay in advance.

The only thing I really wanted was the MEAT/META EP by IDLES and I was out of town so i missed RSD at my local store went in two weeks later to find out they got some records a week after RSD and so I got it plus more! My luck finally turned around just in time for my first record store day lol

I sadly did not get the mono reissue of Woodstock since they did not have it at the store I went to, but I was first in line at around 6:30 AM at 3 hive record lounge in Provo. What is did get was two of the David Bowie issues and gave them to a friend of mine who could not come because his wife had a race this morning so I gave him those. But what I did get was an unintentional them. Live performances, Billy Joel at Carnegie Hall 1977, Sly and the family stone at Woodstock, and a early live performance by the doors. So my first real record store day experience and very happy with what I got.

If I remember correctly, and I do, I was in Stockholm Sweden for this (I live in Oslo, Norway). I got the Gorillaz, Weezer albums, Green Day and Madness B-Sides. They did not have Pearl Jam at all (Pet Sounds store was a bitt miffed about not getting any amvassadeur records).

Didn't get everything I wanted, but that's to be expected when you're 15 years old and broke af, but I got the two things I wanted the most: From The Fires - Greta Van Fleet and Green Day Live at Woodstock 1994. This was my 2nd year participating in Record Store Day, I made it to my store at 8 am (an hour before opening) and I was about 15th in line, and I'm already excited for next year! It's great to see everyone coming together to support indie record stores and just talking vinyl while waiting in line, always a great time!!

I'm from the Netherlands and rsd is much smaller here than in America, so I was shocked when I arrived at the record store just before opening time that there had formed quite a line, but nothing compared to yours. There were different releases here than in America, but I'm super excited about what I got (and I got a lot) - Green Day live at Woodstock - MCR the black parade is dead - Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack picture disc - Bastille other people's heartache pt. 4 (clear vinyl) - Noel Gallagher ep on coloured vinyl - The Kooks live at the moth club - Doe Maar de bom 7" on coloured vinyl - Sam Fender play god/hypersonic missiles live 7" I only miss the queen 7" with bohemian rhapsody and i'm in love with my car but I can live with that

Hey Matt. Great video and some nice pick ups in your pile. One thing that is very annoying is that Pearl Jam as the ambassadeurs of RSD release an album in 6.000 copies and only 300 of them make it to Europe, none of them made were available in Scandinavia. My store in Denmark somehow imported the record directly from the US, they got around 15 copies, priced at $45. It's absolutely ridiculous that the record from the ambassadeurs of RSD is only widely available in the states.

Went to Amoeba a couple hours ago. I’m lucky that I only live about 1.5 miles from it in WeHo. No way I’m camping out tho. It was completely nuts when I was there. But I only waited about 20 mins and got the record I wanted so I’m very happy about that. Didn’t think it would happen. Scored Twin Peaks season 2. My only must have. I was hoping for Emerson Lake & Palmer but they were out. No biggie.

For those of you who did not get lucky on RSD... I live in Detroit and was about 100th in line at a a very large and reputable record store near me. I was shocked at the allotment given to this store on titles like Crow Soundtrack, Alice Cooper, Lost in Translation, Weezer etc.. Rumour has it that there was a lost or stolen container of RSD titles that have not made it to the stores yet. Can anyone confirm this. I have a hard time believing that the titles that had a pressing of 8,000 pieces would be so scarce in Detroit. The store I went does RSD very well and it is a huge deal for them and make the consumer experience as friendly as possible. Anyone else in the Midwest have a similar experience?

Happy RSD! Went to my usual spot, East Street Records Seattle WA. They had free coffee and bacon while waiting outside. Then free beers while waiting in the checkout! I wanted alot that wasn't still on the shelves (Prince Versace Cassette, Green Jelly and some others). ButI did get these- Pearl Jam - Live at Easy Street (Jeff Ament was there doing an in store, got mine signed!!) Mission Of Burma - Peking Spring Rasputins Stash - Stash Power Of Zuess - The Gospel According to Zuess Groundhogs - Thank Christ For the Bomb (Deluxe) Kool Keith - Complicated Trip Beth Hart - Front And Center Brett Smiley - Sunset Tower Also some non RSD stuff (Flat Duo Jets, Jon Wayne, The New Dawn). I was second in line at my local shop (huge crowd behind me). Unfortunately everyone rushed in and I wasn't able to snag the record i wanted the most, The Crow. But I did get the Star Trek OST, so that is cool :) Question? Is my experience unusual? I hear many stores handle one customer at a time instead of making us fight each other in the bins for our records.

I went to Criminal Records here in Atlanta and picked up: - Dream Syndicates Of bread and wine collection. - Olafur Arnold's re:member with the 7 inch Orchestra piece - Green day Woodstock 1994 Live - Into the spider verse soundtrack. - Picked up Jr. Thomas & the volcanoes also (not a record store day special) Was a great day and a good haul.

From the UK here and was queueing at Spillers Records in Cardiff (the world's oldest record store!) from 3:30pm after finishing my final Master's degree exam. On your last point about over-saturation, I think it is a definite trend HOWEVER, I see way too many people willing to throw the baby out with that particular bathwater and not go to it at all. To me, this not only doesn't deter the people that go there just to buy stuff to put on E-bay (that I think we can all agree are THE WORST) but deprives independent business of being able to utilise such an important day and sustain itself. These places are so bloody brilliant that the queueing situation has to play second fiddle to the love of the music, right? I got there as early as I did to ensure that the records I wanted would go to a home that was going to play them. On that point, this year's list in the UK was incredible - or maybe my taste is just growing year-on-year, who knows?! But I got everything I wanted and spent a small fortune in the process. They are now all out of the cellophane and ready to be played this week. I got super lucky this year, 3 of the 4 things I wanted I grabbed the last copy of: Body Talk, the bird and the bee's Rayguns are Not Just the Future, and My Chemical Romance. I also grabbed Gorillaz, but they still had a few of those. Our store was giving away free donuts so I also got one of those on my way out!

Got my Pink Floyd via Discogs at a decentish price (definitely not astronomical ... so to speak). Honestly, it was the only one I was interested in getting and I knew it was a *very* long shot. But I got to hang out with my good friend/music-making colleague. In the end, that’s all that should matter =]

My record store in Sacramento, CA had 10 copies of Green Day, but there were no Crow Soundtrack's to be found. That ratio doesn't seem right to me. Third in line and everyone was asking around as to whether anyone got one, and nobody saw one. I think the store employee's got to some stuff before opening, which is supposed to be a big no no. Also, I wish all stores would adopt the "list" method like Amoeba Hollywood rather than the push and shove free for all that I encountered today. Glad you got all your wants! I missed out on my top 2, but somehow got my 3-8 wants, so not a bad day overall.

In Munich there were only about 15 in the queue when the doors opened. There were plenty of records I was interested in but the prices are getting silly. 49 euros for Bingo Hand Job, no way! I got the Blood on the Tracks test pressing, the Josephine Foster album, these were the two I really wanted. Also The Olafur Arnold's album which was actually an impulse buy, and a couple of other non RSD albums. Will go back on Monday, always worth it, usually good stuff in the left overs, and you have some feedback on which pressings are good and which aren't.

Great video! I use to go there when I lived in LA. I got everything on my list except for 1- Allman Brothers Live Bears Choice. I did however get everything else on my list. So happy for what I did get. ( To go with the RSD poster) Grateful Dead - Live Warfield 1980 Pink Floyd - Saucerful of Secrets Mono Procol Harum - 50th Anniversary 1st Rolling Stones- 10in She's A Rainbow Live Rolling Stones - Big Hits Rolling Stones - Big Hits II I lined up at my shop at 7:15 am. Right before the doors opened there were easily a couple of hundred waiting in line in the pouring rain.

The only one I really wanted was Bone Thugs, and one out of 5 stores I went to only got one copy to begin with. So had to go to discogs and buy it. Other than that I picked up John Lennon and into the spiderverse. Just doesn’t seem to be as worth it anymore to wait in line as some stores still had a lot to choose from later in the day.
