Forget about insuring your collection. If there is a fire, theft, ...whatever. You buy more vinyl. Here are my recommendations: Medieval Death LP and free DVD and the Mordicus “Rights ‘n Trials” LP. If you want to know more Google [Medieval Death LP and free DVD + Mordicus “Rights ‘n Trials” LP], then check audio, videos etc. \m/

I decided to make my collection work for me and have a radio show on a local college radio station, and the coolest thing apart from playing whatever I want is: getting promos from new bands to play, unfortunately they are in CD format as it’s cheaper but it’s a great free way to discover new music

What it that 12" Aphex Twin Drukqs album and why is it not obnoxiously long so it fits no where as intended

One question...did you ever get or get aquainted with the Twilight Singers box set that came out last October 2023? Twilight as Play By the Twilight Singers, first time on vinyl Fila Brazilia...its epic..the boxset is expensive...but that first record is so worth it. Other Twilight Singer albums are getting very expensive $250+

I never got it... maybe if it ever was on deep discount, it was just too much to me.

You are the community. People associate Portland with you and your following. Like Noble Records in NC

That's a very kind thing to say but I could never take full credit for the huge vinyl community out here in Portland, especially compared to somewhere like NC. We have like 25+ record stores, big and small, and I think it's the best digging in the country from what I've seen! Just grateful to be a part of it.

I had a similar situation with a company on Discogs called Philadelphia music. The product I received was damaged and all I wanted was a refund. I sent the merchandise back and waited . I had the notification it was delivered back to them. And waited a few days, still no refund. So I contacted them. They said they never received it and refused to refund. Luckily I was using PayPal and opened a claim. Had all my cards straight and won the case. After that they blocked me for good telling me I'm a bad customer, after spending around $500 within a 3 month period back before records were overly priced so it was a lot of records. Oh well I found new shops. Too bad for them.

I loved everything about Tower Records except for WORKING there. Having giant in-stores were great because they interrupted the tedium and extreme boredom. We didn’t have the community that you had, although it was indeed fun to talk shop with customers and fellow employees that weren’t in the classical department, as most classical people don’t really like contemporary music. Peace.

Literally add it to your homeowners policy. Simple as that. Done. (And yes you have to use the current market value just like anything else). I’ve done it.

I love when a customer is asking about a certain record and I can either pull it out of the bins or easily order it for them. The look on their face and reaction is so rewarding.

Living the dream my friend! I have vague plans to open a store where I live here in Tokyo one day, but that’s probably a good few years down the line when kids school fees and the mortgage are no longer a concern!

I didn't own but managed 2 record stores ..Moby Disc ( A whale 🐋 of a record store ) in Santa Monica & Rhino Records in Westwood. Two pretty iconic stores in the 80's & 90's & then .. Amoeba came.

Maybe there's some idea around creating a collective pool of money that we buy into and if nothing happens at the end of the year you get a % back of what you put in. Maybe we just need to start a better insurance company model :D

Hi there! Just found your channel! I've been collecting records since 2011 (And my parents had a collection from the 70s until 2004 when they decided to throw them away) - I am a firm believer that vinyl can be "perfect" if pressed properly on a quality record - especially with a top quality record player. I never grew up with the clicks and pops that many see as "part" of vinyl. But vinyl to me when pressed right sounds much more dynamic, open and "crisp" (much better clarity in the high end) compared to 99% of modern CDs (not older CDs mind you, some of the CDs pressed in the early 80s are fantastic!) Great video and tips - thanks for sharing!

The make adhesive/sticker remover; works pretty well on removing price tags. On really tough ones also hit the sticker with some spray soap, and that will usually do the trick. I've seen, and this must have been long ago, stores that stamped jackets with their store name. Some of the classic rock albums have gone way up since this video aired. I've seen common Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd records in the 60-90 dollar range.
