My record store ended up opening at 7 instead of 8 like they were supposed to because people started lining up at 4am. There weren't any records I wanted to get, but I was picking up for a friend. Because I got there "late" the title I was picking up ended up being sold out. As far as the "auction" goes.... that's a huge no-no and they could get banned for doing that!

They were doing silent auctions on the titles they only got one of. I went back a few days later for a record I missed & asked about it & 100% of the proceeds (they didn’t even keep the cost of the records) went to an organization to help kids of abuse. So that makes me feel a little better about it. I didn’t know it was something that they could get banned over though! That kinda makes sense.

I managed to get the Black Sabbath, Death, Elton John and Mr Benn releases on Saturday! I wasn't able to find 3 others that I wanted (Doctor Who, Eric Carr and Ringo Starr), but I think my indie store is getting them in this week after a minor delay

The Taylor was 47 at my store. And that auction is super sketch and also goes against the rules of RSD I do believe.

49.99 isn’t too bad. My local record store here is straight up and honest and doesn’t gouge the price and i got the TS for 46.99 I also got the ELP pic disc. 37$ i generally don’t like those but it was cool looking

I got Taylors' Folklore LPSS for $50 too which seemed a little steep to me, maybe if it were a gatefold. I wish I'd got the 1975's as well but my store only got 3 copies and people camped out to get them so..like you said tuff luck. I wish I had grabbed Larry Lovestein one too, oh well.

report your record store. the bidding alone is a huge red flag and if RSD even finds out they were doing that they would be pulled from it immediately. each record store has to sign a waiver agreeing to rules to even get access RSD stock and this store was breaking multiple rules. they are overcharging and it's supposed to be first come first served. i would take my business elsewhere. donations to charity or not

The record store I went to sold Taylor swift for 54 bucks, and then i saw other stores listing them for 38. I think the price was too much.

Oh and auctioning off RSD records is super against the rules of RSD they could be banned they are only allowed to mark up titles a little bit, 20% I believe.
