Late to this game of knowing who Skunk Baxter is, but been a great fan of Steely Dan & Doobie Bros almost from day one. What a talent Baxter is and a GREAT storyteller about those amazing musicians he knew and played with.

Listened to Skunk Baxter all my life. Been playing myself for over 60 years, he's been an inspiration to all of us who have played the guitar and anyone who loves great music! !
@jimharrison452617 күн бұрын
I've seen Doobie Bros. twice and the latest was their 50th anniversary tour and the other time was in the 70's. And I saw Steely Dan a couple of years ago. But I know you have been very influential on both bands being a success along with the other studio backup work you have done over your lifetime. But I have followed you most of my lifetime and will continue to do so. I'm 68 years young and about to turn 69 in a few months but I will continue to follow your music journey the rest of my days. Your loyal fan Jimbo. 🎸

Saw Skunk when he joined Doobies late 70’s. Afterwards he walked into the back door of the bar we ended up at to see one of our favorite local bands, Big Twist and the Mellow Fellows. Jeff sat in with them the rest of the night, and only took one solo. He just wanted to keep playing music. A treasure for sure.

One of the godfathers of the style of music I love and grew up on. His licks, rhythm’s and songs will ring out forever. Nice tight ensemble. Supreme vocals by Hank on bass and super slick support by Mark on drums / vocals and James on keys.The guest spots by Lauren, Gunnar, Rick, Slim Jim & Rome were nice features. China Grove done Nashville style was absolutely funtastic!!!

Skunk’s legendary Steely Dan guitar solos are firmly etched in my mind. His musical overhaul of the Doobies was historic. And now the future’s a great wide expanse for Mr. Baxter & Company…🎸🎹🥁

Insecurity is one driving tune- killer snare sound mix. Skunk's playing is epic with one burnin' ass solo on Black Friday. Dig that reinterpretation on China Grove. Brings a whole new meaning to Country Rock.

What happened to C J Vanston? He must be back in LA doing Commercial music - 'Checks In The Mail Money'. But, it could be a vocals beefing up thing. This is a better Set. He got bored &/or a worn out larynx to some degree. The Bassist is the only one from the first Date of the Speed of Heat Tour. I'm glad he's mixing it up some.

@UncleAshGuitarZone-v6gАй бұрын
i don't think he intends to play record perfect at this point in his lfe.... He's probably sick of it and gets way more enjoyment out of mixing it up and taking things a different direction with some improve thrown in here and there. I totally get what he his doing and have massive respect and awe for it. Love Skunk - he's the closest thing you will find to a legit American version of Jeff Beck. Like Jeff Beck but with a heavy North American influence and he's definitely in my top 10 favorites of all time. Absolutely mad respect for Skunk!!

This is what a live band sounds like, it's real, it's organic, it's human. Studio is a manufactured product, necessary but not a patch on the real thing musicians do, this.
