That’s was great Sturla! Just as I was hoping you’d do. I wondered how you got those tracks isolated. I have a similar program that seems to work well. I just never use it. Thx again

The sound of your kick drum is fantastic already RAW without processing! How do you get this sound?
@sturla755 күн бұрын
Thank you. I guess it is a combination of things. I use a black dot batter head and a clear amb for front. The batter head is with a rolled up towel. Simon Phillips style and also use his paint can trick here. For putting mass inside the kick it gets a bit beefier and more grounded sound. The Beta 52 is just inside the off center hole and front head has a tiny bit of gaffa on it. But most importantly it is something I have experienced with a lot. So lots of trial and error.

J’ai une question : quand tu enregistres, tu le fais en écoutant la musique et le click par Logic audio ? Tu as une latence ? Merci encore !
@sturla754 ай бұрын
I usually use the Logic click when recording and listening direct through my interface with a none latency feature. Havent really experience a latency issue. So do you have an issue with that? Only thing if I had a plugin on when recording. That adds latency. But here I just used the AI click that was generated and played along to that.

Very nice video, I like that you're not using gates. Gives the sound a more real feel and not processed sample stuff. By the way, If you like free plugins, I found a few great ones for drums from Wavesfactory. SK10 (kick sub) , Snare Buzz (as it says) and Flash (but you don't need it but it's a nice transient plugin) How can I get you to record drums for a song I have done?

Thank you and Thanks for the great tips too. I do have a sub kick but I just thought the SK10 kan be cool to try on my gong drum too. I will check them out. Hit me up with an email to sturla75@gmail.com regarding drums for your song.

@@sturla75 the thing I love about the SK10 is that it will always be in phase with your kick. And it really adds some nice deep lows, A little goes a long way. The other thing I wanted to mention what I do on my toms buss is add the bx_digital V3 EQ and only really use the "mono maker knob" and rolling it up to maybe 200Hz. Since I notice your T6 Gong is panned, it will allow both L and R to take make the low-end and not just have the Left speaker doing all that low-end lifting. It will still give you a sense of its stereo panning. if you know what I mean. Anyways talk to you later. thx!

@@Steviee8 Thanks again!! That is a really great tip. That I must try.

Ahh, had a look and it looks like the WavesFactory plugins are VST only unfortunately (as I am on Logic which supports AU (Audio Unit) only - as far as I know.

When mastering, we always have that problem with the hi hats. They swish too much. Easy does it drummers. Play them open handed man. Not crossing over might sound better in the mix too. You drummers hit those hats too hard for me in my mastering. You drummers need to fix it. F Dave Weckl.

I see what you are saying. And yes i try to play those HH’s rather softly - and I do play open handed as well.
