As people get older, we think about people that you're grateful that they lived during your lifetime. They touched your heart. Phil Collins is one of mine. His music helped me through some really hard times in my life. I'm an old lady now, but, when I listen to him now, it takes me back to a time when I was young, beautiful, full of life, love, and pain all at the same time. Thank you Phil Collins for being a part of my life. You will always have my heart.
@friesiamans19664 жыл бұрын
your comment touches my heart: "a time when I was young, beautiful, full of life, love, and pain all at the same time" - i was always handsome enough and full of crazy energy - i never realized, how much easier things are, when you are like that - five years ago i got seriously ill for the first time and things changed drastically - now i´m under medication, which takes just too much of my energy, i have grown fat and my mind feels like it was dissolving slowly - i´m just 62, but i feel much older, i doesn´t feel to good... :-( i admit, i´m not a fan of phil´s singing (apart from his second voice things with peter gabriel, which i still like a lot), but for me, he always was an adorable drummer and has definitley a place in my heart also... :-) love and best wishes from germany

"an amazing number of people registered" synonyms: astonishing, astounding, surprising, stunning, staggering, shocking, startling, stupefying, breathtaking; awesome, awe-inspiring, sensational, remarkable, spectacular, stupendous, phenomenal, extraordinary, incredible, unbelievable; I would say that, compared to many drummers that I've watched over the years, that he fits the bill for being "awesome , awe-inspiring, sensational, remarkable, spectacular, and phenomenal"...just to use a few of the synonyms for "amazing". I could say "good solid drumming" for just about any rock drummer out there -- examples would include the drummers for The Rolling Stones and The Beatles..

Phil spent WAY too much time listening to the british press, who are pretty vicious on just about everybody. He's got more money than he can possibly spend in ten lifetimes and can do what he wants, the 'poor me, some people don't think I'm cool' kind of wears thin fast. I don't know if its his way of trying to get people to feel sorry for him or whether he's manic depressive, but he's a grown man. After you are 20 who out there actually pays attention to 'whats cool' apart from the fashion industry (which he is very obviously not spending much time with).

There's is no such thing as old music. There is just good music, bad music and mediocre music and it all subjective. One man's chicken dinner is another man's trash. But if you manage to write, track and release records that sell tens of millions of copies, there's a fair chance that you know what you're doing.
@Bikewithlove8 жыл бұрын
Well said. I used to 'hate' certain bands and musicians when I was younger, so I can admit now that it was mostly jealousy that they were popular and I wasn't. There are musicians whose approach to music I dislike, and that's just a matter of taste. I have the utmost respect for the amount of work, sacrifice, and personal risk that goes into music that I don't like, and sometimes I wind up liking a song or a body of work by an artist I might have disliked before. For example; to this day I'm not a fan of Sinead O'Connor's music, but I learned how to record and edit vocal tracks from the way that she works, and I can appreciate her professional ethic and no-nonsense, hands-on approach in the studio.
