Just great. Another fantastic tutorial plus downloads… Thank you so much! Hey everyone, this is the only channel on Character Animator you'll ever need.

I never saw this video before! This explains why all my attempts at making cartoons with this so far have been terrible HAHA! Thank you so much for these videos.

Hello Dave! Just want to say I love ACA but I have one thought or request when it comes to adding on additional takes. I find it pretty inefficient to add multiple takes by hitting the record button and then triggering replays, stopping the recording, and then adjusting them afterwards. It would be SOO MUCH faster if I could simply scrub through the timeline to a point where I want to add a new take with a prerecorded action and just right click and just choose from a dropdown menu and choose from a list of my replays to insert. Better yet, have a recording mode in which I can scrub through the timeline and just hit the assigned trigger keys for my actions and they just place them where ever my timeline marker is. It would make the multiple take recording process a lot easier for everyone, especially new users. Just a thought, please let me know what you guys think about that or if it is actually something I can do right now and haven't discovered it yet! :)

Yes, agreed. You can do this for simple triggers but not for replays (yet). We realize how cumbersome replays can be and we're working on some solutions to make them way easier - and hopefully do more of the types of things you're looking for! For non-replay takes, try command + 2 (mac) / crtl + 2 (pc) to record a short 2-frame take of anything.

Will the keyboard input for the lip sync interfere with triggers already assigned to a key that uses that same key
@okaysamurai3 жыл бұрын
No, because the lip sync keyboard thing is only during editing when a viseme is selected.

I agree - this is great. Exactly what I was looking for.

I lost the panel to control recording behaviors. How do I get to open it again.
@okaysamurai4 жыл бұрын
Go to Window > Behaviors. Or if it's a different panel like Timeline or Controls Panel, go to Window > whatever that panel name is.

Thank you for the video. However you need to be detailed when creating the phonemes. Thanks. Is there a tutorial for walk cycle?

Is there a way to move a recorded layer above or below another layer ?
@okaysamurai4 жыл бұрын
Yes, if they're two takes for the same parameter - Cmd (Mac) or Ctrl (Win) + up/down arrow.

Thanks life saver I was struggling for a solution over n hour , I'm to use to after affects 😂

Where did the "split lip sync into visemes" has gone? I can't find it in the new version and it would be very usefull..
@okaysamurai5 жыл бұрын
Much easier now - the lip sync will automatically show up when you record audio. Or drag in an audio track into your scene and go to Timeline > Computer Lip Sync From Scene Audio.

@Okay Samurai How do I record audio in mono? Right now it's set to stereo. Thanks!
@okaysamurai7 жыл бұрын
I believe that's an OS system setting? I believe it's just looking at whatever you mic is set to, I don't think there's an option in CH. In your CH preferences you do have some audio options you might want to play around with that could help...?

Okay Samurai Thanks for getting back to me so promptly!

Okay Samurai I'll probably tweak the audio in Premiere or Audition.

Thanks for making these videos!! I have a question though.... Can a dangle not be added to say a belt hanging in the middle of the body since it's not on the outside edge of the character? I put the belt in a different layer but it only allows me to make a dangler on the body itself...and it's not working.
@okaysamurai8 жыл бұрын
Dangle should be able to work on anything - you just need to make it independent. So in your case, inside the Body group I would make a folder/group called "+Belt" and put your art in there. Then in CH, with that group selected, I'd staple it at the torso and add a dangle point at the bottom of the hanging strap.
@EvieRombal748 жыл бұрын
Also - the arms - if you want them to work the best, are you saying they should be imported separately? If so, how do you attach the arms again to the body?
@okaysamurai8 жыл бұрын
Each character may call for something different, but my general recommendation is like Wilk here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/laTQfYuFebmXbLc. Make your arms independent groups inside the body and staple them at the shoulder sockets.
@EvieRombal748 жыл бұрын
So by warped independent arms you mean the arms are still in the same illustrator file but on their own layers, right? The staple isn't working but thankfully my arms are staying put so I don't need that feature at the moment. But the Stick tool and dangle tool don't work either. Oh well. I'll just keep moving my spaghetti arms. :)
@okaysamurai8 жыл бұрын
Right. So it would be like Body > +Left Arm, +Right Arm, Torso, etc. With one of those + groups selected, you should be able to staple and add sticks/draggables, just like the Wilk example.

Hi, okay samurai san. I would like to know how to animate my characters face to happy face, sad face, angry face…etc. If you have any tutorial videos of them I would like to know. Thank you Sir.
@okaysamurai7 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can get a lot of different faces with triggers. See the example puppets like Almasol on okaysamurai.com/puppets for a good emotion set.
@__m23g396 жыл бұрын
Using the keyboard to trigger it defeats the purpose because you hear the click-clacking of the keyboard. You need another trigger, like touching the touch-pad of a laptop or something remote with an app for your phone. I can't record dialogue and hit keys without picking up the noise from the keyboard
@okaysamurai6 жыл бұрын
We've shown in past videos a few other ways to trigger, like Controls panel, midi devices, game controllers, and even phones or tablets. But if you're hearing the clicks that probably means the mic might be too hot - I would either a) use a headset mic and/or b) click the menu icon next to "Camera & Microphone" and uncheck "Boost Quiet Audio."
