@@deliriumsdawn I've tried using a boss multifx to record effected and dry audio but you can only do one at a time and it's locked at 44.1KHz. It's just going to be easier to use an audio interface and do everything in the box. Or use the multifx with an interface. Such a waste of a usb feature though.....

Hey everyone! Good News. I figured Out how the Routing works in cubase pro. It is a bit tricky. 1. Create the Output bus as described in this very helpful Video. 2. Press F3 and the mixing console will Open in a seperate Window. 3. Make Sure that the "Routing" Funktion is aktivated in the Menu at right top of the Window. 4. Then Go to the Channel where you want to Set the Bus as Input Bus. Chosse it and it works 👍🏻 Most helpful Video in KZbin

I know I'm a bit late to the party but I just stumbled across this video. I always wondered what use would it be to record a DI Track if you're using Amp Sims, since... If I just remove the insert Plugin with one click I have my DI Track again - so why bother? But the Workflow you show in this video is really intelligent and useful and I actually had to laugh out loud because I felt so stupid for not thinking about it earlier... Of course you save CPU if you just have one track for the Amp and effects and stuff and then just pull the events down to other audio tracks. Great Video! 🙂👌 And man.... I have to admit I admire your playing, it's tight as hell 🤘

Thanks for your question. On BIAS FX 2 the preset is called „Dawn Of Rhythm“. It might sound slightly different due to the different BIAS FX version. 🤘

Sure it does. Since I’ve been getting the same question. You will need the Pro version of Cubase. Otherwise - with other versions - you won’t be able to use the virtual output (internal) as an input bus on your recording track.

Hi, thanks for your question. First of all…this is just an option in how you could record your tracks. Therefore you don’t need a separate DI track or anything from this video. The difference between the DI track and the Recording track is that the wave form on the Recording track is irreversibly processed by the Amp Sim. The wave form on the DI track is the original DI wave. I would always keep a DI track in case you wanna change your sound later, which you can do by using a different amp sim setting, or a total different amp sim, or by routing your DI to a real amp / mic setting. I hope I could help.

Thinks of it as a signal chain: DI track into amp sim (needs to be on the same track). Processed signal (output) going into the recording track (input) and being recorded in processed form. Only of course if you set the routing options as I did. If you turn off the amp sim on the DI track you’ll hear a clean sound.

nice method! or you can just render in place the DI recording, I got a macro to render/disable original track/hide original track, with only 1 click to keep a clean view, in any case I can go back to original track, tweek it and render again, no need to record the "Record" track again.

Thanks man! We‘re actually from Munich / Germany. There is a documentary on our channel in how we recorded „Horizons“. The vocals on Horizons are recorded with a Rode NT1A into a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 2nd gen into Cubase. The vocals (both shouts and cleans) are double tracked, the second track is much quieter (-8dB) though.

Did you record two Guitars to simulate a real life scenario (recording two guitarists for example ) or to produce a "bigger" sound ? 2. I recorded two guitars (left and right) You can quad track but might end up with a washy sound. You can not simply duplicate already recorded tracks to pan them left and right. You will end up having a louder centered sound. You will not have the effect of a bigger sound. So, always record individual tracks.

Hey, that‘s a very good question! Since I’m using Cubase Pro 8.5 I’m not quite sure if anything has changed. I remember that I had to upgrade from Cubase Artist to Pro to have this sort of routing option. And you did try to create the output bus? The one that I then named Internal? That’s the crucial part for this method.

@@deliriumsdawn I did create it but it wasn't showing as an available input, I removed it and set it up again as far as I can tell exactly the same as I did the first time. This time it was listed as an available input for the recording track. Really not sure what happened there but I'm glad that it now works. Such a good solution because I had always previously been using a separate Bias FX insert for each guitar track.

Awesome video! Seems like a fantastic method for saving CPU whilst being very flexible with sound later on! I have tried this on Cubase 11 Elements and it did not work for me though. It wouldn't let me select the newly created Bus as an Input option. Can someone confirm if this sort of routing is exclusive to Cubase 11 pro?

Hey thanks! I can absolutely confirm this issue since I had the same problem when I used the artist version of cubase 8. The idea to do this and having the option of virtual routing was the reason I bought the pro version in the first place. I am pretty sure it’ll work with 11 pro.

@@deliriumsdawn thanks for confirming! One more question, if you don't mind, just so I'm 100% sure i got it right (Cubase pro is kinda expensive): the sound on the "recording" track is fixed, right? If i disable the amp simulator, the sound will still not change, if i got it correct. I'm asking because I'm looking for a way to transfer my whole arrangements (just demos, so not that large files) to a friend. He does have cubase, he does not own the same plugins (Neural DSP in this case) as me, so if i only send my DI he will just be able to listen to the raw signal. Yes, the sound on the recording track is fixed. At least it is processed through the amp track. Therefore disabling the amp sim will not effect the already recorded sound. That means yes, if you wanna send your friend amped sounds, you can. And you can also only send him the DI if he wants to amp the signal.

Yes, you could. But when you run a big project with more than only 2 guitar tracks. Let’s say 16 tracks for guitar including FX layers and so on, running BIAS FX on each track will probably be heavy on your CPU.

Thanks for your question. If it’s a VST plugin, which I suppose it is, you have to make sure to install it into your VST folder (normally in the Steinberg / Cubase folder). It should then appear the next you start Cubase.
