SUBSCRIBED. This is a VERY VERY USEFUL video for me and anyone in this social media age who wants to directly record high quality audio & video of themselves playing. I was about to buy CT-S400 over E373 and changed my buying decision just because of this missing feature on the CT-S400. If there really is no Casio that supports this (not even CT-S500/CT-S1000V?) then will need to buy something from Yamaha. Probably will go with E373 but Do you know if Yamaha PSR-i400 supports this feature? Anyways, Thank you so much for this video.

Thanks so much! I don't think any Casio products have the built in audio interface, not even the $2000 digital pianos (it 's SUCH a useful feature but they don't seem to think so ;). I looked at the online specs for the i400 and it's not explicitly listed, but I would do some more research online to see if it is mentioned anywhere (Yamaha doesn't ALWAYS list it as an explicit feature). I just looked at the Canadian site and the i500 (new version maybe?) does list it. Hope that helps and thanks for visiting and subscribing!

I always wondered ... how often do people modify MIDI manually to remove mistakes? Are people making piano music videos really good and make zero mistake in a 3-6min music video? Or do they merge multiple slices? Or do they use a single recording with manual removal of mistakes? For my ego, I try again until I manage a single raw interpretation that I like ... but I doubt most youtubers go through all that effort when they could photoshop their audio to remove imperfections.

I personally never use MIDI only audio; couldn't be bothered with MIDI. So any recording of me playing is always me playing (might take a few tries to get it good enough :)

Doing this recording method with my Roland fp-e50. I connect usb B to piano and usb C to my Samsung Android phone. I record videos of songs as i learn on the Simply Piano app, which is running on a separate tablet. The tablet sends lesson audio to piano via Bluetooth, and piano sends midi to tablet also via Bluetooth. I listen to my playing and the recordings through Sennheiser headphones connected to the piano headphone jack. Mostly works great, but i hear some popping when i play back recordings from phone to piano via usb. Popping is not heard if i play the records some other way. I wonder if i need to try a different cable or if it could be a grounding issue. I dont usually play them back right away anyway, so not a big deal.
@PianoTone
@PianoTone 6 ай бұрын
That's a pretty complex setup wow! If you're not hearing popping when listening to the recordings just on your phone with headphones connected to the phone then the popping isn't in the recording. Is there any chance your phone is also connected to the piano with BlueTooth as well as USB? Other than that not really sure . . . Thanks for checking out the channel, feel free to subscribe

That app is meant for video not audio, so yes I would use that connection (USB) but I would use a DAW recording app like Garageband to record and edit the audio before uploading to Spotify. Thanks for checking out the channel, feel free to subscribe

How did you record the vocal seperate?. I have the Yamaha P220 with USB recording. How do I record vocals and piano at same time?
@PianoTone
@PianoTone 3 ай бұрын
The keyboard I was using also has a mic input, so the vocals get included in whatever audio the piano produces. By P220 do you mean P-225 or P-223? If you do, that piano does NOT have a mic input so you wouldn't be able to record vocals together with the piano. Thanks for checking out the channel, feel free to subscribe

Hi Tony, Have you seen the Website Digital Pianos with USB Audio Interface? Thank you for this video and the previous one that gave me an idea of using Roland Go Mixer! My problem with Focusrite Scarlett is that it requires either connection to a computer or iPhone Interface with the additional input for power. Could you please tell me if the Yamaha recording app creates files easily “uploadable” to KZbin (I downloaded it and should just check it myself instead of bothering you 😊). When I had my Roland digital pianos (FP30X or FP-90X) or Yamaha P-515, I used their USB Digital Audio Interfaces. I was actually never happy with direct recordings because the volume of my piano sound was much lower than using the iPhone’s microphone in the recording I was making. What is your experience with this potential issue? I got my P-125a (yes it is “a”) and need to use my Scarlett Solo (with the proper adapter that I actually ordered already) or Roland mixer. Thank you for your videos - they are always very good (much better than other than I see on KZbin - you are concise, well spoken and have real life experience that is parallel to my interests). Michael

@PianoTone 11 ай бұрын
Hey again - thanks for all the kind comments! The Rec'n'Share app (I'm pretty sure) makes it super easy to share a recording straight from the app to most social media (Facebook etc) or to a file location, but I don't remember a "straight to KZbin" option to be honest. I always have to edit all my videos extensively using a video editing app, so I never really looked into that. The Focusrite is a great audio interface - if it's a solo, then just use one 1/4" TS (cable with one stripe on the plug; it's a standard instrument cable) from the L/Mono port on the 125a without anything plugged into the R port. This will give you a "summed" L+R signal out of that port. If you had the audio interface with 2 inputs, you could use 2 cables and get a left and a right track (but it will be fine with just the one). Happy recording! And hope you like your 125a!

@@PianoTone The reason I am buying the Roland mixer is that it gives me two inputs for digital piano. I do like my P-125a and I am much more relaxed when playing on GHS action than I was with NWX. I like simplicity of this piano very much.

I have a dgx670 so I'm feeling pretty good right now. However I still am hearing the clicks of my keys on the recordings more than I should. Do you know any tips for reducing that?
@PianoTone

So you’re hearing your keys because you’re using a mic for singing at the same time? If so, you can try a screen between your mic and the keys. If you’re not using a mic and you’re recording using the built in audio interface you won’t hear your keys at all Thanks for checking out the channel feel free to subscribe

Hey Tony, unfortunately, i have the P-125a and the app didn’t support the piano. Do you know of any other apps that can do the exact same as rec n share? (Record and have a high quality sound)
@PianoTone
@PianoTone 24 күн бұрын
It’s not a function of the app it’s the piano - the P-125a doesn’t have an audio interface built into the usb port (the P-125 and P-225 do). So to record a piano video or direct audio you will need an external audio interface like a focusrite scarlett. You connect the LR line outs from the piano to the interface and then the interface to the pc/phone/ipad. Hope that helps! Thanks for checking out the channel feel free to subscribe

Hi there! The DGX-670 DOES have an audio interface, but for some bizarre reason the Rec'N'Share app does not recognize the DGX (I don't think it recognizes the P-125 either). But that's just an issue with the app; you can actually use any camera app (to be honest, I record almost all my videos with my iPhone's built in camera app, it works fine). Hope that helps! It’s just a normal printer style USB cable and then a lightning adapter; on that note I would recommend not buying a super cheap one; I’ve made that mistake twice now with cheap lightning adapters that fail after a month. @@PianoTone So I wasn’t dreaming that I saw your name on the chat 😀 I’ve made mistakes buying cables previously. Although you are in Canada and I’m in the USA can you give me Amazon links to both the cable from the DGX and the cable into the iPhone - I have an iPhone 11. I can then locate them on Amazon in the USA. I get confused with the different connections. The cable I have from the DGX works with an adapter into the iPad but of course not the iPhone. Currently I’m recording onto a thumb drive connected to the DGXs usb port and using the iPhone for video. Problem with that is syncing the two using iMovie. Oh, and I am subscribed to your channel and find your videos very useful. Thank you.

No the aux in won’t normally work with a mic - you need a separate mic input with a gain control (normal aux in won’t have enough gain to hear a mic) - this keyboard has an aux in AND a mic input.
