I have one of those, a slightly more expensive version with X bracing and solid woods. They have a "cheap" sound that gives them the tone of old-time folk blues players. You make it sound much better than me! Fox guitars are cool too, they make the Kalamazoo models, Oriole is sweet.

They have, yeah. And such a great price as well
@williamgleed83934 жыл бұрын
I understand they are based on Recording King guitars from the 30's. They were originally sold in the Montgomery Ward calalog, and are Parlor modfel guitars. I bought two for my Zydeco-blues band, one electric, one not. Cost me less four hundred bucks. They'll pay for themselves. They sound like Robert Johnson's Stella.
@CesarBenzoni4 жыл бұрын
Great info William, thanks! They really pay for themselves. I didn't want a pickup that wouldn't give me that natural sound of it, so I got an IRig Acoustic Stage from IK multimedia, and works great for that! Here's a link for a video of it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5OnnWCJpp2AjMk

How was the action out of the box and do you still rate this guitar. I’ve just ordered one today.

It was a bit high for me, then they lowered it down in the shop. I still love it, It's not my main one, but I use it a lot

My only beef with these RK parlors is how boxy they sound a few feet away, not very good bass projection. However, they sound awesome when micd up close while recording
@CesarBenzoni2 жыл бұрын
That's interesting, I'm always playing it so I never heard from a few feet away 😅 Thanks for sharing this, I'll get someone to play it so I can pay attention to this. Cheers!
@jamesdoctor80792 жыл бұрын
@@CesarBenzoni Yeah, smaller body = less projection and less bass. A few feet away this is usually perceived as “boxy”. But when you have a mic up close, the proximity effect of the mic will give a greater sense of low end.

Yes. I'm enjoying this guitar so far. Although I am a true beginner. I've never really held a guitar in 37 years. So I'm not sure what comfortable would feel like. I will update in 2 months!

Can you use it like a normal acoustic for strumming and stuff like a normal guitar Looking to get this to look like all Bob Dylans smaller acoustics
@CesarBenzoni3 жыл бұрын
Hey Owen! Well, the sound of this guitar is great, but you won't have a full sound like a dreadnought for example. You will have less lows, less brightness but a very powerful midrange and a very punchy sound. With this in mind, it's a versatile guitar that works great for folk music, but won't substitute a dreadnought, if that's the type of sound you're expecting, for example. I hope this can help you! All the best!
@Dougie.Douglas.3 жыл бұрын
@@CesarBenzoni so would it be could to strum folk songs like Blowin in the wind Bob Dylan as such?
@CesarBenzoni3 жыл бұрын
@@Dougie.Douglas. ah yes, totally. Try look for it in other videos here on KZbin as well to make sure it has the sound you're looking for, but I'm pretty sure it will work for strumming folk songs
