Not a word about their DRIVERS! No other company out there has such solid drivers, that just WORK. Every time all the time... And one can't put price on that reliability and trustworthiness.

Grat video man! I don't actually need madi. Is it ufx 2 ok or It has a lower quality than ufx 3?

absolutely, the Fireface does an excellent job, even through the KZbin codec. it surely can't be blamed for the raw, muffled and dry pre-mix of the song. i've been an RME fan ever since my first Hammerfall "hundred years" agto. so, after a short detour, i'm back. the Fireface UFX III replaced my Steinberg UR816C (32bit float), and while it has "only" 24 bit, it brings an equally impressive sound, a stable driver, a much better control software and way more flexibility.

Excellent review. Much appreciate it. Would love your opinion. I own an Apollo X8 and now going through the “bug’ of even considering swapping out my X8 for the RME reviewed here. Would appreciate any opinions and advice.❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥

what did you end up doing?
@damirvukelic8087 Жыл бұрын
I got my ufx3 paired with UA 4-710d, and a bunch of external preamps, mainly using all of it to track drums. With the 4-710, through Adat, together with 12 inputs of the UFX I am able to run a total of 20 channels.
@latentsea11 ай бұрын
How is the conversion? How is Durec? Thx
@damirvukelic808711 ай бұрын
@@latentsea I did not use durec. Conversion on the other hand is awesome. The unit itself has both modern and analog vibe... the more analog outboard stuff I introduce the more mixes become hybrid sounding digital/analog type of deal.

Hi. The UFX III replaces the UFX + not the UFX II mentioned in your video. The UFX + did offer MADI connections.
@TheNoiseGOAT11 ай бұрын
Is it called UFX + II ?
@RedroomBerlin10 ай бұрын
@@TheNoiseGOAT No, it’s called UFX III if you care to read the video title and yes it does replace the UFX + and not the UFX II. It has nothing to do with the name. Even RME say so themselves.

I´m a RME user for decades and always use the biggest stuff so i know them. Like always the recordings are clean as hell with a touch of totally boringnes, means no character no nothing. That´s why i send all the signals via analog gear into the RME as i am not a huge fan of using plugins to re-create character and sound. But RMEs are rock solid, never break down and great support. That´s what count´s in a pro. environment. Set it and forget it.

Is it enough channels to record drums
@ProDrummer Жыл бұрын
@@hosoiarchives4858 Sure!

@@hosoiarchives4858 Not in itself no. Only has 4 mic preamps
@meomarte11 ай бұрын
@@hosoiarchives4858For Bonham, yes. If you regularly use the analogue channels for something permanently, I would recommend taking an extra I/O for drums. Connect it via ADAT or MADI.
@PianoHero199410 ай бұрын
@@hosoiarchives4858 yes. but youll want to have either external mic pres into the line inputs on the back, or to pick up an ADAT expander (like the ada8200 from behringer, octopre from Focusrite, or something else). You may find only 4 preamps may not be enough depending on what you're going for.
@isrealistikflow7522 ай бұрын
I plan to get one of those my question is; i need external pream or those inside are enought?
@RecordingMag2 ай бұрын
If you want clean, uncolored sound, the internal preamps are great.

Something I've been trying to find out and research but am getting conflicting information on RME's site. What exactly is the limitations on the DURec function? On the site it says "all 166 channels are able to be selected for recording to DURec", but then further down it says something along the lines of, "maximum of 76 channels (inputs and outputs) can be selected at 48kHz. The actual number of channels that can be used without error depends on the storage medium." I'm just wanting to make sure that if in a pinch I needed to be able to record 128 tracks simultaneously via MADI is that something the DURec on the UFX III could do?? As always rec, thanks for the review. So much valuable information all in one place!
@MtaalasАй бұрын
Exactly as stated. You can select any of the available 166 channels to be recorded BUT maximum number of channels you can record at once is 76 @ 48khz, because USB sticks are not fast enough for more channels. Limitation of technology. If you use bottom shelf cheap USB stick, your actual channel count you can reliably record might be even lower... use good USB sticks. You want to record all 166 channels? Use the host computer...

Wow I just purchased Universal Audio Apollo X4, and looking at prices, and quality of the Fireface, did I make a mistake?
@agork Жыл бұрын
There are no mistakes, only happy accidents. If you want something else then sell what you have and get it. However, none of the units in mind are shit in any way.
@alexbreyer692111 ай бұрын
Those two devices are very different beasts. The x4 has very nice expansion features with the ADAT I/O, but this UFX III is RME's top of the line box and you can pretty much connect anything either analog or digital to it. Their software TotalMix is also more comprehensive, but it's also way more complicated and time consuming to learn. RME has some of the best converters and everything is extremely pro, but if the x4 covers what you'd be doing, then there's nothing wrong with that.

Rme makes great products and. support is excellent. Sadly they are almost useless on a Mac since they have put Mic input on channel 8 and Mac hardwires Mic to channel 1 on multichannel devices which makes it useless for Teams,Zoom and other standard applications unless you want to waste two channels by hardwiring chan 8 into chan 1.
