ADAM Audio was founded in March 1999 in Berlin. Since then the company has been developing, manufacturing and distributing loudspeakers in the field of Professional Audio.
The development of the X-ART (eXtended Accelerating Ribbon Technology) tweeter based on the 1960’s invention of the Air Motion Transformer by Oskar Heil was largely responsible for the company’s founding. Producing sound not with a piston-like diaphragm as is done in most of the loudspeakers that are on the market, but using a pleated diaphragm that is capable of moving the air 4 times faster than the folds themselves are moving was the appealing idea behind it all. The achieved results were intriguing and gave ample reason for moving forward.

the mic should be placed deeper inside when using reflection filter. The way they did this makes little to no difference cause the mic is almost in the outer part of it. Makes the sound even worst than no treatment.

I listened to these clips and here's what I liked in order: 1. SE 2200 with blankets 2. SM7B open 3. Soyuz with blankets It's hard to really compare without proper gains staging and volume matching, but for a home studio I think it's a decent test. I was shocked to see just how much low end was added to the reflection filter.

Hi Ibrahim! Gain is the "technical volume" so to say. That means the volume before going in the effect chain. Some analog gear or emulation of analog gear need a certain input to work. Thus, you need to make sure that the technical volume before the effect chain is correct and also the artistic volume at the end. All the best, Daniel.

@kurokid2441
@kurokid2441 3 жыл бұрын
@@fightsandfinance7570 It's absolutely worth it. But here's got a problem for you since the SM7B is a well known microphone with very low signal, which means if you're using this mic, you'd better need a mic pre-amp for it. But your phone's not capable of giving phantom power to the mic pre-amp to work. So...it's not a good choice for your phone.
@RobandSijay
@RobandSijay 2 жыл бұрын
@@fightsandfinance7570 I second what KurokiD said and will suggest (for a phone set up as it needs to phantom power,) SM57 with the A81WS windscreen and it will give you a really close sound to the 7B on a budget for podcasting $100 for the SM57 and $30 for the Large body windscreen. This set up is confirmed to work with an adapter to a smartphone. (used personally for some early podcast connected to an iphone, xlr to usb, plugged into a iphone usb3 camera adapter while plugged into a power source)

SE 2200 w blankets sounded best to me, though that signal would probably need some low end roll off/multiband comp to deal with the proximity effect. Honestly surprised at how good all 3 mics sounded just centered in the room. My bedroom is 10x more noisy (near busy roads) and reflective.

Hi Jacky! The middle of the room will be best, as it will reduce the reflections off the walls that would be next to you in a corner. Good question 👍

The bomblet is a little bassy I’m sure it has its purposes, but for singling I feel like it lacks something the rest of these mics you show have! like natural higher mids!

I'm in a basement with a boiler, which is loud. Do you think the the blankets would be enough to block out sound like that?
@ADAMAudioBerlin
@ADAMAudioBerlin 3 жыл бұрын
Certainly worth a shot and would be substantially better than without them. We'd suggest going with as thick and heavy of blankets as you can find to try and isolate the microphone as much as possible. Would love to know how it works out if you give it a try!

I didn't like the SM7B UNTIL it went into the makeshift booth. Then it sounded great. Unfiltered i liked the SE2200 but when you started adding acoustic treatments it started to sound a bit sibilant. I didn't like that expensive mic at all...

@@ADAMAudioBerlin i think that's more a byproduct of him getting closer to the mic due to the limited space in the ad hoc blanket-booth, resulting in not only more proximity effect but a higher de facto signal-to-noise ratio

@@yeenar i agree with u. Blanket may add low end to ur voice, but it wont add high end to ur voice. The vdo shows his voice has more high and low end with blanket indicates he was closer to the mic

Why is there a pop filter on a SM7B? Seems like that's going to deaden the consonants too much? You'll end up having to put an exciter at the end of a plugin chain.

Hi! Great question. This came down to this particular song and his vocal. While you typically don't need a pop filter on the SM7b, we found that with this more aggressive style vocal take, it needed just a bit more help to tame his plosives. If it were just a softer, singing vocal, we probably would not have needed it.
