Tony, I have a quick question for you. I barely got my EW425 and wondering if I can use the multiple tracks feature without the use of the accompaniment. I write my own music and recorded a piano but can't create another track. (Don't want the accompaniment feature.) Thanks so much!@@PianoTone

@@crazymusiclady You sure can! I'd recommend either turning on the metronome so all your tracks are in time, or you can also record just a drumbeat on one track to record your other tracks to, and then delete the drum track when you're done.

I need to get better at finger drumming though :). And I also need to think about ways to create custom endings - I think to do that I will have to export midi to GarageBand, use that to create an ending then export back to the keyboard …. Thanks for checking out the channel feel free to subscribe

Hi Tony, I love your teaching style. Slow and easy without skipping steps. Have you ever considered teaching how to use the PSR with Garage band? I've heard you can use your PSR as a controller and select Garage band sounds ALONG WITH allowing the audio sound of your keyboard to be recorded. It would be great to learn how to set up the audio track in GB to record sounds from your keyboard.

Thanks again for the kind words! My 3rd video in this series (kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJuodoFjlL2Bm8U) shows how to export a multi track MIDI recording to GarageBand. You can also record the audio from the 473/425 to an audio track in GarageBand (all audio; the keys, accompaniment, vocals etc) will come in within the same single audio track. You can't record the audio from the keyboard at the SAME TIME as the MIDI, but you can record them separately and add as many tracks as you like. A more in depth demo of using the PSR with GarageBand is a great idea for a future video though thanks (just need to find the time lol).

Hi Tony, I know what you mean about time. I'm a songwriter that can't get songs out of my head. For the life of me I can't get the accompaniment to play without the thud sounds of chords when I hit them, even though ACCOMP button is on. I just don't get it. I've even checked the splint point and it's where it should be. Have you ever encountered that problem? @@PianoTone

@@crazymusiclady What you're describing sounds like a keyboard with an option for full keyboard chord detection (where the keys below the split point are supposed to be heard as opposed to just triggering the chords for the accompaniment) but these keyboards don't have that mode. Are you sure it's not just a certain style you're using that happens to have a heavy "chord hit" right on beat one? You could try to figure out what instrument/accompaniment part that is and disable it if you want. Hope that helps

Hi Tony, Wow! I didn't expect a response because I know how busy you are! I appreciate you so much. I actually found out that my keyboards defective and it's only a week old. Sometimes the accompaniment doesn't get selected when I hit the button but if I power off the keyboard and flip it back on, it will work properly, but then it stops working again. I'm going to return it. By the way thank you so much on your hint about recording in audio. I had no idea that the PSREW425 had this feature. You saved me tons of time!! Thanks again! @@PianoTone

You can re-voice the accompaniment tracks (choose a different voice for the accompaniment to use; it doesn't change what's being played, just changes what voice is being used). I did a video on that here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpmlmqtojZWjpcU

There are not many 3/4 rythms. What does the TumesigN or TimesigD do? I want more 3/4 rythms. Can I convert a built in style to a 3/4 style?

I don't think you can convert a built in style, but I know you can import new styles (page 28 of the reference manual on Yamaha's site shows that). You could include recordings on the sample pads in an audio recording (it’s playing back an audio file) but not on midi

Try holding record and pressing the track number you want. Page 46 of the manual is where the recording instructions start.
