Knowing what Mike Skinner is really like makes me love and respect his music for The Streets even more . Amazing artist.

That rhythm section in 'Turn the Page' is amazingly tight. If that too was done in a bedroom in Logic, then he's even more spectacular than I thought.

I like Mike Skinner... He stands in the shadow of nobody! I love how for me he does not sound like any of his influences. Not easy to sound fresh here in 2018. Respect mate 🏆

The street where my late teens soundtrack. The irony of it all especially true, my best mate was a stoner and I was a bit of a drinker and fighter(I'm 36 now and a tee total,non smoker family man and happily not involved in any violence for over 15 years) me and my mate used to say that was like us. Also dry your eyes when a girl I was seeing broke up with me. The music was all very real and was a lot about how my life was like back then,growing up on a rough council estate in the North East.

This is great ,him and Roots Manuva continued in music still sell Albums. Respect! They have and keep their own style and are Independent . Todays music is uniform ,same sample,same clothes,same style ,same subjets:sex,drugs,violence. It's no more Hip Hop.

i have the exact same thing with mixing in the box - constantly going through the same loop - load a session, small adjustment here, small adjustment there, export, listen, re-load, further adjustment here, further adjustment there....

I’m a big fan of analog sonics but the more he moved out the box the less scrutiny he’s given his music over the years and the more magic has been routinely lost. Now he’s churning out shit on a MPC Live 💔 Bring back old Mike Skinner

@charliemorris39077 жыл бұрын
well it wouldn't bother me if he was gay or not in truth, although if i was gonna get a tattoo of an idol based solely on the iconography of there sexuality id have to go for elton john, but it'd be harder to take it as seriously as old mike i think. that is unless it was a full chest piece of him with a snappy pair of shades on, couldn't miss with that.

SSL's? Easily $20,000 (American dollars) and up. If you buy one pre-owned, you are still looking at spending $15,000+, as they have great resell value.

"a grand" and "the hardest way" had some bad mixing .. the hardest way was the worst because there were honestly times where you could barely hear what mike was saying as the levels were too loud and the sound frequencies were fighting eachother.. i think "a grand" just had some peaking and bad acoustics... its kinda surprising to me that original pirate material has better mixing than the next two albums... does anyone agree?
@cloudair41548 жыл бұрын
actually it kinda makes sense cuz i remember in some artwork or interview pictures during "hardest way" they showed they were recording in a bathroom.. while i remember mike saying he recorded the bulk of original pirate material in a closet with blankets surrounding him.. so you can actually see why opm sounded better to an extent.. i wonder what the setup was for "a grand"
