So in order to recover the deleted whatsapp folder i deleted, my phone had to been already rooted BEFORE the mess, if i root it now when the folder is already gone, i've ZERO chances to get it back, right? 😢

That's why I back up all my data and apks on flash drives. I learned that the hard way. And I also use the backup and restore option on my Samsung A20s just in case.

7:20 There is also another method if the screen and touch is broken and you don't have usb debugging. Just buy a USB-C to HDMI usb hub/adapter/dongle and plug it into a monitor along with a mouse. From there backup the phone or just enable USB debugging to then use scrcpy, adb pull or any other file recovery software. Writing from experience - once had a broken phone (screen showing random patterns, touch not working, developer options not even enabled)

@anascottwelding1761 I suggest you set up screen copy once you get any new phone, and disable the auto USB debugging timeout. So if at any point in the future your screen breaks, you'll be able to connect your phone to your computer and use screen copy or any other commands.

I use resiliosync to sync all my stuff to my 2nd phone and to my PC and also to NAS. and yes, my 2nd phone has Gphoto backup unlimited with Root!

Thank you for your help. Alas,... I moved my photos/vids to a "photo usb" (5000 plus) then from that to my laptop. Discovered a week later some of the pictures did not upload to usb all the way (partial pics) - i could have sworn they were all there when i checked earlier, but whatever - so of course when i moved them to desktop on my laptop they showed up that way too.
