Ridership is only 90% of pre covid levels, when factoring new lines and total usage.

Probably due to people moving out of HK after 2019 and partial WFH is still a thing even after covid.

@@SFsRailDepot if you look at the raw patronage data, the urban lines daily record is 5.033M in January 2019 , but for November 2023, it was 4.823M. However, 8 new line-stations have opened, in the Tuen Ma line and East Rail line. Averaging out ridership to station ratio, a January 2019 with the newest stations already opened would have been about 5.25M, factoring in trips that would have been counted as two before and are now only counted as one (E TST to TST cases) Cross border (direct crossing and HSR combined) is still about 80k less daily than before Covid. And also light rail in the NT are about 65k less daily than before covid. Airport Express is 20k less than before covid. However, all services are running at pre covid levels.

0:45 Apparently, since 31 Dec 2023, all M-Trains have been withdrawn on the Kwun Tong Line and transferred to only serve the Tseung Kwan O Line.

Nope, that has always been a fake news. There are still M-train running on the KTL.

@@SFsRailDepotBut that still means that TKL will eventually see Q trains. At this current peak service, the number of K trains isn’t enough to serve the line alone, so up to 6 KTL trains are borrowed during the AM peak.
