I watched these videos before my Aortic root and valve replacement and it was so helpful. Your experience mirrored mine almost perfectly., although I spent one more day in hospital. After watching your journey I knew what to expect and it was a lot less intimidating. I also felt like I'd been hit by a truck that first night after surgery but I kept telling myself I knew what to expect and that in a couple of days I would walking around the ward. I would recommend this video to anyone who is facing open heart surgery. Thank you Scott.

I'm having my aortic valve replaced in 6 days and I am scared shitless. None of the videos give you eyewitness accounts in ICU during recovery and that's where most of my questions circle around. So THANK YOU for taking one for the team and showing us what it's like.

Hey Scott. I can't thank you enough for posting your first days post op. It was the best thing I found anywhere to give me a sense of what it would be like. I had my avr on March 7th and was out in 4 days. Although I'm 62 (you look younger), it progressed pretty much as yours did. I got home a couple days ago and am just starting to work through recovery. Your videos really helped allay my fears of the unknown and gave me context for what was to come. Thanks again! Mine was done at Beth Israel Deaconess in Boston. Dr Khabbaz was great!

I had this TAVR procedure to replace my Aortic valve because of stenosis in May of 2014, was home from the hospital in 3 days, and playing my 26 pound accordion in 2 weeks. Because of an aneurism in my aorta, the could not go thru the groin but, instead, went between my rib under my left breast. Why wouldn't this country let Doctor's do this procedure before this. Open heart surgery is not acceptable for me because my whole life is my music so, if this couldn't have been thru the rib with the TAVR procedure, I would not have had it done and lived life to the fullest until the valve no longer functioned. Thanks for your KZbin. Lou LeBrun Springfield, Missouri FUN WITH LOU LE BRUN.

Thanks so much for posting this. I am also scheduled to have this surgery in a couple of weeks. Was wondering why you chose the bovine instead of the artificial as you look to be a young man? I am torn between mechanical (and warafin) vs. going back and living me life as it currently is without blood thiners. Do you currently have to take any medication 6 months later?
