Recovery of an MMO Junkie has a lot to say about the value of online connections, in addition to being an excellent love story. But the most important aspect of the show is its commentary on living your best life. Even if you're a Nazi, apparently.

I was scared that when Morioka got with Sakurai, she'd go back to the corporate life like she was "fixed" and I'm **super** glad that didn't happen. People should be free to live the lives they want and need with the people they treasure. If it weren't for those damned loot boxes Morioka Moriko would be an anarchist icon

I've said this over and over again: There's nothing wrong with being a full-fledged Otaku, as long as you're not dependant on others' money and you take care of your health. The "Anime is trash and so are we" moto is fun but it's becoming more and more meaningless as the world advances and it becomes increasingly easy to live a life entirely from home. Also, I come here for the freestyle jazz thingys, I don't care about your analysis.

Most irritating kind of people are the ones who are trying to preach me or anyone else about a correct way of life and call people crazy. Nowadays I just ignore the losers, no point caring for people who aren't in control of their lives or are just faceless. I embrace my inner craziness in a life filled with mental scars and regret because that's what I've become. I want to indulge myself in art & sophistication while rallying ones who embrace their true selves, desires and life styles they want. I'm not afraid to show my irritation towards people of my generation and how in my spare time I often want people to get out of my face, however. I've lived as a lonely man for so long that the meaning of bonds has lost most of its meaning to me.

How do NEETs in general even keep their lifestyle (other than their parents) despite being not-employed?
@someoneelse5005
@someoneelse5005 6 жыл бұрын
I understand it completely. I earn 4 times as much money as I spend, just by doing a job I am kinda into. I just live a very minimal lifestyle, I work, I watch some anime, I don't go anywhere, I don't buy fancy stuff, etc. So, 3/4 of my paycheck goes unused a lot of the time, though I do try to help my family when they're in the pinch. But other than that, if I wanted to resort to a complete neet lifestyle, I could live on my savings for about 3-4 years without a problem. However, if at that point it'd be hard to me to get back to actually working that'd be a huge issue, so I would never think about it, and it is NOT sustainable in the long run.

I'm not that hot about the localized title "Recovery of an MMO Junkie". It makes it sound like it's going to be yet another preachy show about how games are evil and you must recover from them. "Recommendation of the Wonderful Virtual Life" would've worked even if it's a bit engrish. At least I know I rolled my eyes at the title when I saw it pass me by, and after the first few minutes of your video I realized that it was the complete opposite of what I expected and gave it a watch.

Phenomenal, as always. The music's double subversion of expectations had me laughing out loud for a good four minutes, the analysis was of such rigor that MMO Junkie is next up on my watch list, the clever solutions you came up with top solve various technical issues were sufficient and even enhanced the video. Yours is one of the few channels I would consider actively donating to once I become more monetarily autonomous and it's because you maintain a level of quality that I absolutely adore and respect. Thank you for such a wonderful video and for being such a strong creative source in this niche of KZbin, and have a wonderful day while you're at it.

This video sure came out at an interesting time for me. I start a new job, that I have almost zero interest in, tomorrow. It pays well and it's at the Kennedy Space Center, which is admittedly pretty awesome, but I really don't feel a passion for it. Heck, I barely even know what it is, they just kinda called me and asked if I was looking for a new job, and I was. But it really feels like I'm gonna rinse and repeat myself at this new place. Sadly, I really don't have much passion for anything, other than maybe exploring old castles, cause I did that once and that was some of the most fun I've ever had. But I don't do well with conventional work environments. I get bored and lose focus easily. I graduated with a comp sci degree and can be a professional programmer, but that didn't appeal to me at all. So I don't know what to do. But, this video makes me feel like there is something I can do if I just take the time to figure it out. I hope I can somewhat soon. Ever since I realized I didn't want to be a programmer, I've felt lost and depressed. I feel like a jack of all trades being forced to pick just one, but I don't think that'd ever fulfill me, and my family is all corporate, so they don't understand my issues whatsoever. I wish I had some real guidance with this. My college career counselors wouldn't even help me til I found a job that I wanted to apply to. It really sucks to not know what you want

Chrono Loop a lot of time society says that once you're adult you're supposed to have figured out what you want to do by now, but statistically many people don't stay in the same career path their whole working life. Hey, this might be a bit irrelevant since it's been a year, but I was just digging through the comments section to see if anyone had any thoughts on that topic and I came across yours. I feel pretty lost myself - the phrase "wanting to want to be a certain person" really hit home for me. It's really hard for me to tell what I really want, and I think it may be because I've been lying to myself about it for so long that I can't tell the difference anymore. Have you made any progress towards feeling like you're on the right path? It would be really helpful to me if you would share your current thoughts on this, although of course you don't have to.

One of the things that has really cemented my interest in your channel (aside from the hilarious and thought provoking content itself) is the way that you write the endings. As far as I can remember, you end these videos with lines that really tie everything together, and when combined with the rest of the video, you get something that feels complete in a more satisfying way than a lot of videos I've seen elsewhere.

Hm. I would say that being happy and honest with oneself is reasonable, but it's only the first step. Again, this is a *recovery* we're talking about. I can be honest with myself and say that I hate my job, but, at the end of the day, I still have to put food on the table. Being happy and honest is an important step, sure, and it makes things a lot easier, but, well, sometimes you have to go back into that dungeon we call Life and brave another round. Very few people can actually stop being something they're not.

I can certainly appreciate the show's message about how self-actualization is a noble goal to strive for regardless of where your passions lie, but I feel like there are significant extensions/counterpoints to be made. Finding the path that's right for you doesn't necessarily finding the one that's right for everyone around you, or the world at large. It doesn't take too much twisting for the philosophy espoused in Recovery to become inherently selfish: there's an opening for a real villain therein (aside from Sakurai's inability to stand up for himself against any kind of pushback), someone whose genuine, honest path to happiness comes at the neglect or expense of others. The kind of person who can say "I'm sorry, but my happiness comes before yours." Is this still valid, if it is honest? When does it become a problem? Can relationships or communities form around these ideals? Answering these questions could meaningfully deepen the show's message. Similarly, a more direct counterpoint is possible, one that (for example) posits that the life and happiness of the individual does not necessarily produce the most good for the most people. That's of course not at all to say Recovery's point of view is wrong; the question of "right living" is one that we as a species have debated for basically as long as we've been around. There are entire fields devoted to the study of how different people have answered that question in different times and places, plus entire _other_ fields studying how those answers have been expressed in culture and media. This show in particular makes sense in our current cultural moment, as it hits on and affirms very modern notions (at least in America) about the kind of life one should create for oneself: one that prioritizes self-care, skepticism about societal expectations, and the creation of supportive communities and structures. Great video, all in all, I'm a big fan of the way your analysis flows, and it obviously got me thinking. Dankeschön!

4:00 Ha. I've been living by myself, with a NEET shut-in lifestyle for the past half a decade, with absolutely zero desire for sex or romantic relationships. The idea that you need that shit is absolutely false, and I am one of the counterexamples. I'm masochistic for existential dread.
