Hi chris, we love your videos - thank you for sharing! Could we ask what brand the heel wedges are please?
@ChrisBranch9 ай бұрын
Thanks so much! I have two sets, one from a UK company called 'Slant Board', and one random company on Amazon. The random ones are completely fine and seem to be made of the same stuff 😊🙏

Wow that's really interesting, some new ideas there for me!! Might look into getting a little red lamp then... my dad used to use an infra-red lamp when i was a kid! For me, no question it's regular strength training and barefoot yoga (with lots of one foot balancing exercises) and a sauna a few times a week when I have time after a workout!! When I have a bit of a niggle, like after smashing my marathon PB for example😁, I might spend a couple of hours on the elliptical machine instead of running for a day or a few, but I must say that usually a Body Pump class followed by a Body Balance class and then a sauna fixes up almost every niggle like a dream!!!

I would love to add a sauna to my routine too! 😊🙏

I've got to be honest here Chris. I'm approaching 40 and I've been running all my life. I've never used any gadgets or done anything other than run and have had no setbacks or issues. How much is all this stuff actually needed?
@ChrisBranch10 ай бұрын
As I say in the video, none of these things are _needed_ as such, but I find using them from time to time to fast-track a particular function can really help. It also depends what your goals are. I love to run, but I also like to have a relatively good level of flexibility and strength. Personally, I find that if I just run, while the running side of things is fine, other elements of my fitness and health suffers, and that's where these can come in. Not on their own, but as part of a complimentary movement and strength routine. So you're right, they're not needed, but they can help us along the way 😊🙏

@ChrisBranch I wasn't having a go at you or anything here Chris. Maybe just trying to weigh up the benefits. I'm supposed to be doing S&C as part of a training program, but 6 weeks in have just been sticking to the running side of things. I always appreciate your advice and point of view, just maybe I'm a little bit stubborn with my approach to new things
@ChrisBranch10 ай бұрын
@@liamallport3361 no don't worry, I didn't think you were having a go at all 😊 It's so hard fitting in strength training alongside a running training block (and family, work and social etc!), and I have more videos coming up soon about this. I see the tools I mention in this video as complimentary to this stuff, and it does feel like they keep my body ticking over well when used in the right way. Keep trying to fit in the strength training though. It's always helpful, but particularly when on the north side of 40 ☺🙏

Some great tips Chris! What are your thoughts on compression boots? I have the nomatec, I love using them, but haven't noticed any recovery benefits. It might be because I don't use them straight after a workout (who has the time!)
@ChrisBranch10 ай бұрын
@@hels2305 haha I know what you mean! It would be lovely to have a full recovery routine, a sauna, a nap ... but life doesn't work that way 😂 I have some patients who get on well with the compression boots, but I think they only really work when you _really_ need them, like after tough races or when you're deep into a training block and feeling beaten up. I imagine the benefits for your daily training are negligible. I've never used them though, so I can't really comment 😊🙏
